Role Overview
The Regional Visual Merchandiser will independently manage and execute the end-to-end visual identity, design strategy, and product presentation across all regional stores. As a standalone department function, this individual must possess a rare blend of creative design mastery, aggressive vendor negotiation skills, and a strong track record of driving New Store Openings (NSOs) from ground zero.
Key Metrics & Profile Basics
- Department: Visual Merchandising (Independent / Individual Contributor)
- Reporting To: Brand Head / Head of Retail Operations
- Experience Required: 47 years in retail VM (Experience with premium apparel, lifestyle brands, or fashion conglomerates like Aditya Birla Group, Reliance Brands, or global sportswear is highly preferred)
- Education: Graduate/Post-Graduate in Fashion Design, Apparel Design, or Visual Merchandising (e.g., NIFT, AIFD, or similar premium institutes)
Core Responsibilities
VM Design & Creative Execution
- Conceptualize and design high-impact window displays, in-store layouts, and seasonal changeouts tailored to the brand's premium identity.
- Translate brand guidelines into actionable regional VM plans while maintaining localization where necessary.
- Utilize advanced design software (CorelDraw, Photoshop, Illustrator, AutoCAD) to generate 2D/3D mockups and spatial layouts.
New Store Openings (NSO) & Project Management
- Own the entire NSO VM format setup: planogram implementation, fixture placement, styling guidelines, and final zoning before store launch.
- Optimize floor layouts and square footage capacity to maximize retail sales per square foot across all new properties.
Vendor Management & Commercial Negotiation
- Independently source, evaluate, and manage external vendors for VM materials, printing, props, and window production.
- Execute robust cost negotiation to drive cost-efficiencies without compromising on quality or premium finish.
- Conduct material recce and quality checks at vendor workshops prior to final deployment.
Cross-Functional & Interdepartmental Coordination
- Act as the sole bridge between Design, Retail Operations, Buying/Merchandising, Accounts, Purchase and Marketing teams to sync product arrivals with visual storytelling.
- Partner closely with Store Managers to monitor commercial VM compliance and analyze walk-in/conversion data impacted by visual displays.
