Job summary

MacDermid Alpha Electronics Solutions in India is seeking a skilled R&D Scientist to develop, test and evaluate polymer-based materials used in electronic assembly.

You will prepare and characterize polymer materials, operate and calibrate lab equipment, conduct thermal, electrical, mechanical and chemical analyses, and collaborate with global teams to ensure data quality and drive customer satisfaction.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Polymer Engineering, Polymer Science, Plastics Technology, or related discipline.
• Minimum 2+ years of hands-on experience with polymer material characterization techniques (TMA, DSC, DMA, FTIR, chromatography, UTM, dielectric testing, etc.).
• Knowledge of PU, epoxy, silicone, acrylic, and UV-curable systems is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Preparation and characterization of various polymer materials.
• Operation and handling of characterization equipment.
• Perform advanced polymer testing, analysis, and failure investigations.
• Develop, execute and validate test methods and protocols.
• Conduct thermal, electrical, mechanical, and chemical analysis.
• Prepare and test samples per ISO/IATF/ASTM and customer methods.
• Operate, maintain, and calibrate laboratory equipment.
• Follow safety procedures and maintain housekeeping.
• Manage lab inventory and documentation.
• Record, review, interpret and communicate test results clearly.
• Collaborate with internal and global teams to ensure data quality.
• Support customer queries and explain technical results.

Who are we looking for?

R&D Scientist specializing in development, testing and performance evaluation of polymer-based materials (especially electronic assembly materials such as adhesives, encapsulation resins, thermal interface materials, conformal coatings etc).

What will you be doing?

• Preparation and characterization of various polymer materials
• Operation & handling of characterization equipment.
• Perform advanced polymer testing, analysis, and failure investigations
• Develop, execute and validate test methods and protocols
• Conduct thermal, electrical, mechanical, and chemical analysis
• Prepare and test samples as per standard (ISO, IATF, ASTM, customer methods etc.)
• Operate, maintain, and calibrate laboratory equipment
• Follow strict safety procedures and maintain good housekeeping
• Manage lab inventory (raw materials, consumables, test vehicles)
• Generate reliable, precise data and maintain accurate documentation
• Record, review, interpret, and communicate test results clearly
• Collaborate with internal and global teams to develop methods and ensure data quality
• Support customer queries and explain technical results

Who are You?

• Master’s degree in Polymer Engineering, Polymer Science, Plastics Technology, or a related discipline
• Minimum 2+ years of industry experience with hands-on expertise in thermal, electrical, mechanical, and chemical, analytical characterization techniques for polymer materials (TMA, DSC, DMA, FTIR, chromatography, UTM, dielectric testing, etc.),
• Product development knowledge or formulation know-how in PU, epoxy, silicone, acrylic, and UV-curable systems is an added advantage

What competencies will you need?

• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and data interpretation skills
• Excellent English communication skills (written and verbal).
• Strong scientific writing and technical documentation skills
• High attention to detail with strong ownership and accountability
• Ability to manage multiple projects and work with cross-functional teams
• Experience in customer support and global R&D projects is a plus
• Adaptability in a global environment with focus on safety and quality
