Job summary

Broadcom in Hyderabad, India is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to design and develop hardware abstraction layer for Broadcom switching silicon. You will collaborate with marketing, architects, software test, and silicon development to deliver high-quality software.

The role involves working on dis-aggregated software with high performance and scale, enabling cutting-edge switching ASICs. You will implement features, test and document, and troubleshoot across L2/L3, QoS, and telemetry.

Qualifications

• BS/MS in Computer Science or similar.
• 10+ years of software development experience in packet forwarding, network OS, embedded software or related fields.
• Strong skills in C, C++, Python.
• Experience with Broadcom or other vendors’ switching ASICs.
• Hands-on experience with ASIC SDK and forwarding plane data (IPv4/IPv6, VRF, ECMP, etc).
• Strong forwarding plane experience in L2/L3, QoS, Tunnels, SRv6, Telemetry.

Please Note:

As a Principal Software Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and developing hardware abstraction layer for BRCM switching silicon. You will work cross functionally with marketing, architects, software test, and silicon development to design, implement, document and test high quality software.

This is a unique opportunity to deliver software for a dis-aggregated software solution with high performance and scale. This position provides the opportunity to work on the most advanced switching ASICs made by Broadcom.

Requirements:

• BS/MS in Computer Science or similar

• 10+ years of experience in software development of packet forwarding, network OS, embedded software or related fields

• Must have strong skills in programming languages such as C, C++, Python

• Must have experience working on any industry leading switching ASICs from Broadcom or other vendors.

• Hands-on experience in using ASIC SDK to program forwarding plane data, including ipv4/ipv6 hosts and prefixes, adjacency, ARP and ND6, VRF, ECMP, etc.

• Strong forwarding plane experience in applications such L2, L3, ACL, QoS, Tunnels, SRv6, Telemetry is required.

• In-depth understanding of linux network drivers is preferred.

• Familiarity in working in an open source software development environment and tools such as Git, Jenkins, Gerrit, etc.

• Ability to design a solution and implement features independently.

• Strong problem solving and software troubleshooting skills.
