Job summary

Broadcom Inc. in Bengaluru seeks an experienced software professional to build system software components on Linux and Fabric OS, including both user and kernel level modules for infrastructure. You will work across multiple release streams and coordinate with teams worldwide.

The role requires 8–12 years in a software product company, strong C/C++ on Linux, scripting (Python preferred), and solid SDLC experience. Excellent communication is essential for gathering requirements and drafting specs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS/IS; master’s preferred.
• 8–12 years in a software product company.
• Experience on Linux/Unix platforms using C/C++.
• Knowledge of at least one scripting language, preferably Python.
• Familiar with SDLC for products with multiple release streams.
• Strong written and verbal communication for requirements and specs.

Responsibilities

• Build system software components running on Linux/Fabric OS (user or kernel level).

• Collaborate with cross-geo teams across time zones.
• Performance tuning of infra components for scalability.

Role and Responsibilities

• Engineer would be responsible for building system software components running on Linux/Fabric OS.
• The components would be part of the infrastructure.
• They can be user or kernel level components.
• Should be able to troubleshoot and support the infrastructure components for multiple parallel releases.
• Should be able to work with technical teams across geographies, and various time zones.
• Performance tuning of the infra components to meet the scalability requirements.
• Porting the applications to new Linux kernels.
• Work closely with the testing, documentation and customer support teams.

Skills required

• Must have a 4-year undergraduate degree, and Master’s degree preferred, with Major or Minor in Computer Science or Information Systems
• Must have 8 to 12 years of work experience in a software product company.
• Should have worked on the Linux/Unix platforms, using C/C++ languages.
• Should have knowledge of atleast one scripting language, preferable Python.
• must be familiar with Software Development Life Cycle for a product that has multiple release streams, and must have gone through the software development process at least once in their past work experience
• Must have good written and verbal communication skills to: take requirement, develop external functional specs, unit test plan, and implementation design specs
