Job summary

Front Door Defense in Hyderabad, India, is seeking an experienced R&D Software Engineer 5 to design and implement a hardware abstraction layer for Broadcom switching silicon and to enable high-performance packet forwarding. You will collaborate across marketing, architecture, software test, and silicon development to deliver robust software for a dis-aggregated solution.

The role requires 10+ years in packet forwarding software, strong C/C++, Python skills, and hands-on ASIC SDK experience.

Qualifications

• BS/MS in Computer Science or similar.
• 10+ years of experience in software development of packet forwarding, network OS, embedded software or related fields.
• Strong skills in programming languages such as C, C++, Python.
• Experience with switching ASICs from Broadcom or other vendors.
• Hands-on experience using ASIC SDK to program forwarding plane data (IPv4/IPv6, ARP, ND6, VRF, ECMP).
• Forwarding plane experience in L2, L3, ACL, QoS, Tunnels, SRv6, Telemetry.
• Understanding of Linux network drivers is preferred.
• Familiarity with open source development tools like Git, Jenkins, Gerrit.
• Ability to design and implement features independently.
• Strong troubleshooting skills.

About The Role

Job Description

As a Principal Software Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and developing hardware abstraction layer for BRCM switching silicon. You will work cross functionally with marketing, architects, software test, and silicon development to design, implement, document and test high quality software.

This is a unique opportunity to deliver software for a dis-aggregated software solution with high performance and scale. This position provides the opportunity to work on the most advanced switching ASICs made by Broadcom.

Requirements:

• BS/MS in Computer Science or similar
• 10+ years of experience in software development of packet forwarding, network OS, embedded software or related fields
• Must have strong skills in programming languages such as C, C++, Python
• Must have experience working on any industry leading switching ASICs from Broadcom or other vendors.
• Hands-on experience in using ASIC SDK to program forwarding plane data, including ipv4/ipv6 hosts and prefixes, adjacency, ARP and ND6, VRF, ECMP, etc.
• Strong forwarding plane experience in applications such L2, L3, ACL, QoS, Tunnels, SRv6, Telemetry is required.
• In-depth understanding of linux network drivers is preferred.
• Familiarity in working in an open source software development environment and tools such as Git, Jenkins, Gerrit, etc.
• Ability to design a solution and implement features independently.
• Strong problem solving and software troubleshooting skills.
