Job summary

AtkinsRéalis is seeking an experienced Network Engineer – Rail Telecom Systems in Bengaluru to design, engineer, configure, test, and support telecom and data networks for major rail projects worldwide. You will develop IP addressing, WAN/LAN designs, and topology diagrams, ensuring compliance with rail standards.

Responsibilities include configuring routers/switches, interoperability testing, FAT/SAT procedures, site testing, and documentation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electronics or Telecom Engineering is required.
• CCNA Certification mandatory; CCNP Certification preferred.
• IEC 62443 cyber-security proficiency is relevant for this role.
• 6–8 years of experience in network engineering for rail/telecom environments.

Responsibilities

• Develop and review telecom network architectures for railway and metro projects.
• Design WAN, LAN, and station communication networks.
• Prepare telecom system block diagrams, architecture drawings, interface diagrams, and topology documents.
• Develop IP addressing schemes, subnet plans, and VLAN strategies.
• Support design reviews and ensure compliance with Network Rail and rail industry standards.
• Configure routers, switches, and network devices.
• Coordinate with Signalling Systems, SCADA, Stations, Rolling Stock, and Depot Systems.
• Execute interoperability and interface testing; prepare FAT/SAT/SIF/test procedures.
• Support site testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting activities.
• Prepare Telecom Design Reports, Detailed Design Documents, and Network Topology Drawings.

Job description

We are seeking an experienced Network Engineer – Rail Telecom Systems to work on the design, engineering, configuration, remote support, testing, commissioning, and maintenance of telecom and data network systems for major railway and metro projects, including Network Rail (UK), Australia, Canada, and other international rail infrastructure projects.

The successful candidate will have strong expertise in IP Networking, MPLS, Routing & Switching, Fiber Optic Networks, Telecom Transmission Systems, and rail-specific telecom applications. The engineer will work closely with multidisciplinary teams.

Your role
