Job Description
Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Design Engineer - OHE & SCADA to join our dynamic railway engineering team. This role is critical inthe design, development, and optimization of Overhead Equipment (OHE)and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems for modernrailway and metro infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have a strongfoundation in both AC (1x25kV & 2x25kV) and DC (750V) tractionpower systems, with proven experience in railway system design, particularly in metro and high-speed rail environments. You will play apivotal role in ensuring the safety, reliability, efficiency, andcompliance of electrification systems across complex rail networks. Yourwork will directly impact the performance and scalability ofnext-generation rail systems, contributing to seamless, sustainable, andhigh-capacity urban and intercity transit solutions. This positionoffers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge projects within a rapidlyevolving industry, where innovation and precision are paramount.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the design, detailing, and optimization of Overhead Line Equipment (OHE) systems for1x25kV and 2x25kV AC railway electrification networks.
- Developand manage SCADA system architecture and integration for traction powersupply networks, ensuring real-time monitoring, control, and faultdetection.
- Prepare detailed technical specifications, design calculations, and engineering estimates for OHE and SCADA components.
- Collaboratewith multidisciplinary teams including civil, mechanical, andelectrical engineers to ensure seamless integration of OHE and SCADAsystems within broader railway infrastructure.
- Conduct siteassessments and feasibility studies for new electrification projects, particularly in metro and urban rail environments.
- Ensurecompliance with international standards (IEC, IEEE, EN, etc.) andnational railway regulations for electrical safety, performance, andreliability.
- Support tender documentation, technical evaluations, and vendor coordination for procurement of OHE and SCADA equipment.
- Perform system simulations and load-flow studies to validate design performance under varying operational conditions.
- Provide technical support during construction, commissioning, and handover phases, resolving design-related issues promptly.
- Staycurrent with emerging technologies and industry trends in railwayelectrification and smart grid integration for rail systems.
Requirements
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Railway Engineering, or a closely related field.
- Minimum of 6 years of progressive experience in railway electrification system design, with a focus on OHE and SCADA systems.
- Provenexpertise in the design and analysis of 1x25kV and 2x25kV AC tractionpower systems, as well as 750V DC systems for metro and railapplications.
- In-depth knowledge of ROCS (Railway OverheadContact System) design principles, including catenary geometry, mechanical clearances, and dynamic performance.
- Hands-onexperience with SCADA system design, including communication protocols(IEC 61850, Modbus, etc.), redundancy planning, and cyber-securityconsiderations.
- Proficiency in industry-standard design and simulation software (e.g., ETAP, PSCAD, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or similar).
- Strong understanding of railway system design standards and codes (e.g., UIC, CENELEC, AAR, or national railway authorities).
- Experience working on metro or high-capacity rail projects is highly desirable.
