Job summary

ABB seeks a security-focused engineer to strengthen device and software security across embedded, web, and cloud APIs. You will perform vulnerability assessments, design test strategies, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to fix issues and improve secure development practices.

Role requires 4–8 years in security, expertise in TCP/IP, OWASP, and automation using Python; hybrid Bangalore work model with strong matrix collaborations.

Qualifications

• In-depth knowledge of TCP/IP networking and application protocols concepts.
• Understanding of software exploitation, vulnerabilities, port scanning, and fuzzing concepts.
• Strong web app security testing, vulnerability reporting skills.
• Knowledge of OWASP Top 10 and SANS 25 mitigations.
• B.E./B.Tech in CS/EC with 4-8 years security experience; M.Tech in Cyber Security or Networking preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct security assessments of embedded devices, host software, web apps, APIs, and mobile apps.
• Provide fixes and guidance to device/software teams based on test findings.
• Evaluate new testing methodologies; test Wi-Fi and Bluetooth vulnerabilities.
• Research security of protocols and cloud/API communications.
• Develop using Python frameworks; work with Flask/Django; automate tests with Selenium/PyTest.
• Collaborate with Dev, QA, PMs, and Publications; integrate security tools into CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience with Python automation and Azure DevOps integrated workflows.

This Position reports to:

R&D Team Lead

In this role, you will have the opportunity to support the strategic technology direction by contributing your own ideas for identifying, proposing, and implementing innovative technology, software and solutions. Each day, you will assist the Research and Development (R&D) team by executing your assigned tasks and using technical knowledge in a structured way. You will also showcase your expertise by staying abreast of the state of the art and actively applying this knowledge.

This role is contributing to the Process Automation Business in Bangalore.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Security and network robustness assessment testing of embedded devices and host based industrial software’s, Web applications, API’s and Mobile Apps. In-depth analysis of results and writing technical reports.
• Providing suggestion/fixes for improvement to device/software development teams.
• Evaluation of new testing methodologies relevant for the organization Testing Wi-Fi and Bluetooth devices for Security vulnerabilities.
• Research on testing security of Protocols, interfaces and Technologies used for communication to cloud based platforms and API Security.
• Comfortable with Web frameworks, such as Flask or Django Demonstrable experience of using Python in an object-oriented environment In-depth knowledge of various Operating Systems (Linux, Windows Server/Desktop, MAC) Experience of Selenium, PyTest or similar Test Automation frameworks.
• Hands on experience with Java, Shell script and Golang is preferred
• Excellent partnership and interpersonal skills, and the ability to collaborate with all parties including Dev and QA teams, Program/Product managers, Technical Publications and other Project Partners.
• Experience in python Automation framework/environment
• Experience in Integrating the security tools to the build pipelines for automated scans. Experience in the Azure Devops.

Qualification for the role:

• In depth knowledge of TCP/IP networking and application protocols concepts (knowledge of control communication protocols and technologies is a major plus).
• Understanding of software exploitation and common vulnerabilities. Good understanding of port scanning, Vulnerability assessment, penetration testing and Fuzzing tools.
• Strong knowledge in web applications scanning, penetration testing and vulnerability Assessment reporting.
• Good knowledge of the HTTP protocol, and all other protocols associated with web technologies Fair understanding of OWASP Top 10 & SANS 25 Vulnerabilities and their mitigations.
• Good knowledge on Mobile app and APIs (REST, SOAP) security testing.
• B.E/ B.Tech in Computer Science/ Electronics Engineering with 4-8 years of working experience in security domain.
• M.Tech in Cyber Security or Networking with CGPA of 6.5 and above Good knowledge of cryptographic and security protocols such as SSL, PKI etc.
