Job summary

AVEVA is seeking an experienced R&D Member of Technical Staff II in Cloud Operations & Infrastructure to join the Hyderabad/Bangalore hybrid team. You will design, develop and operate cloud-based services, collaborating with product and portfolio teams to deliver scalable, secure and reliable cloud solutions.

The role requires 4+ years in software/DevOps with strong C#, .NET Core, Java and cloud expertise, plus hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes and serverless architectures.

Qualifications

• At least 4 years of experience in software development and/or DevOps/SRE with 3+ years on Cloud environments.
• Strong programming skills in C#, .NET Core or Java.
• Knowledge of scripting such as PowerShell, Node.js or Python.
• Proficient with containerization tools like Docker and Kubernetes.
• Familiar with API, REST, microservices and serverless architectures.
• Experience with cloud platforms (Azure and/or AWS) and related services.

Responsibilities

• Develop microservices and leverage serverless functions in cloud deployments.
• Collaborate with development teams to improve operational stability, security and cost reporting for cloud solutions.
• Enhance DevOps processes through automation and effective reporting.

As part of the Research and Development function, the global Cloud Operations & Infrastructure team combines software development and cloud operations to provide continuous integration and delivery of cloud-enabled products and solutions, along with continuous monitoring to ensure various cloud-specific customer requirements/SLAs are met.

As a Cloud Operations Engineer you will play a pivotal role in designing, developing, and implementing advanced cloud-based applications and services. Your work will focus on pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in cloud computing, exploring new technologies, and developing innovative solutions that align with the company’s strategic goals.

Working closely with your development and portfolio colleagues, together you will bring new solutions to the cloud following a standard framework to ensure they are operationally secure, stable and scalable.

The global, 24x7 nature of the team means there may be a requirement for occasional work outside of the standard day and to be on call as part of a shared team rota.

Key responsibilities

• Work on modern approaches to software development including the ability to develop microservices and leverage serverless functions.
• Work with development teams to advise and contribute to improvements to operational stability, security, cost management and reporting requirements for our cloud solutions.
• Continually develop and improve DevOps processes, adding value through optimization, automation, and effective reporting.
• Provide timely and effective response to incidents to minimize the impact on our customers and keep colleagues updated as required.
• Oversee relevant Cloud deployments to ensure successful implementation, track and report progress, resolve or elevate release issues.
• Proactively manage cloud environments to minimize service impacting issues, including infrastructure as code, certificates, storage, health status, backup status etc.
• Ensure new services meet required operational readiness standards before being accepted into operations.
• Ensure on-going compliance to security practices and policies.
• Provide subject matter expertise to business stakeholders as required.
• Maintain clear and accurate operational documentation.
• Stay current on security industry trends, tools and best practices.

Essential requirements

The following list applies to Azure and/or AWS Platforms.

• At least 4 years of experience in software development and / or DevOps/SRE, with at least 3 years of focus on Cloud environments.
• Strong programming skills, e.g. C#, .NET Core or Java.
• Knowledge of PowerShell or Node JS or Python scripting.
• Proficient in containerization technologies like Docker or Kubernetes.
• Knowledge of API, REST, microservices, serverless architecture.
• Knowledge of Cloud Authentication protocols such as OAuth, Identity Servers, OpenID Connect and SAML etc…
• Knowledge of Azure administration, Azure APIs, Azure Functions, Logic Apps, APIO Management, Service Bus, Event Grids, Storage Accounts and Key Vaults and tools. Or, equivalent AWS experience.
• Knowledge and experience of operational support, software development and deployment methodologies and principles.
• Strong written, verbal and presentation skills, able to convey information clearly and concisely to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Attention to detail, diligent and tenacious.
• Excellent analysis and dissemination skills.
• High degree of personal motivation and ability to self-manage.
• Maintains and develops relevant industry and technology knowledge.

Desired skills and competencies

• Certifications in Azure and/or AWS.
• Hands-on experience working within an Information Security accredited framework e.g. ISO27001, 27017/18.
• Experience working in Agile software development such as Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe).
