Job summary

Siemens Energy in India seeks a Manufacturing Quality technician to perform routine GIS testing across 66 kV to 420 kV, contributing to safe and reliable power delivery.

Based in Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar, you will operate HV testing equipment, troubleshoot faults, and document results. You will participate in FATs and continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Electrical Engineering with one year apprenticeship.
• Willingness to work in all three shifts.
• Good understanding of electrical drawings and GIS testing.
• Ability to maintain testing records and FAT documentation.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine GIS testing from 66 kV to 420 kV, including disconnector and HV testing.
• Complete testing within timelines while upholding quality.
• Operate testing equipment like GIS testing kit and SF6 handling system.
• Diagnose faults and document test results.
• Support FATs and assist during inspections.
• Engage in Lean Manufacturing, EHS and quality initiatives.
• Ensure safety and environmental compliance during testing.

The Challenge

• Perform routine testing of Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) ranging from 66 kV to 420 kV, including: Disconnector testing, Earthing Switch testing, Circuit Breaker mechanical and electrical testing, High Voltage and Partial Discharge Testing
• Complete all testing activities within the stipulated timelines while maintaining the highest quality standards.
• Operate testing equipment such as Circuit Breaker Timing Kit, SF₆ Gas Handling Plant, EOT Crane, and High-Voltage GIS Testing Equipment.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot product, electrical, and wiring faults during testing.
• Maintain accurate documentation and records of all testing activities.
• Perform Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) in the presence of customers and provide technical support during inspections.
• Actively participate in Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, Environmental Health & Safety (EHS), Quality, Compliance, and Corporate Governance initiatives.
• Ensure strict adherence to safety procedures, quality standards, and environmental regulations during all testing activities.

• Qualifications: Diploma in Electrical Engineering with one year apprenticeship training in an electrical manufacturing, testing, or industrial environment.
• Shift Flexibility: Willingness and ability to work in all three shifts.
• Good understanding of manufacturing, assembly, and electrical drawings.
• Hands-on knowledge of GIS routine testing, testing equipment, and fault diagnosis.
• Ability to maintain testing documentation, quality records, and test reports.
• Good communication skills to conduct Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and interact effectively with customers.
• Sound knowledge of Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) requirements and safe working practices.
• Good understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
