Job summary

Siemens Energy in India seeks talented individuals to join the Manufacturing Quality team to perform GIS testing for 66 kV to 420 kV gear. You will operate testing equipment, diagnose faults, and maintain comprehensive test records while supporting FATs and customer inspections.

The role requires a Diploma in Electrical Engineering with a year of apprenticeship, willingness to work in all shifts, and a strong grasp of drawings, P&ID concepts, and safety practices.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Electrical Engineering with one year apprenticeship training in electrical manufacturing or testing.
• Willingness to work in all three shifts and adapt to manufacturing environments.
• Good understanding of manufacturing, assembly and electrical drawings.
• Hands-on knowledge of GIS routine testing and fault diagnosis.
• Ability to maintain testing documentation, quality records and reports.
• Strong communication skills for FAT and customer interactions.
• Solid knowledge of EHS requirements and safe working practices.
• Familiarity with Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methods.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine testing of GIS from 66 kV to 420 kV including disconnectors and circuit breakers.
• Operate testing equipment such as circuit breaker timing kits and HV GIS testers.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot product, electrical and wiring faults during testing.
• Maintain accurate documentation and records of all testing activities.
• Conduct Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) with customers and support inspections.
• Participate in Lean, EHS, quality, and governance initiatives.
• Ensure adherence to safety procedures and environmental regulations during testing.

The Challenge

• Perform routine testing of Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) ranging from 66 kV to 420 kV, including: Disconnector testing, Earthing Switch testing, Circuit Breaker mechanical and electrical testing, High Voltage and Partial Discharge Testing


• Complete all testing activities within the stipulated timelines while maintaining the highest quality standards.


• Operate testing equipment such as Circuit Breaker Timing Kit, SF₆ Gas Handling Plant, EOT Crane, and High-Voltage GIS Testing Equipment.


• Diagnose and troubleshoot product, electrical, and wiring faults during testing.


• Maintain accurate documentation and records of all testing activities.


• Perform Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) in the presence of customers and provide technical support during inspections.


• Actively participate in Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, Environmental Health & Safety (EHS), Quality, Compliance, and Corporate Governance initiatives.


• Ensure strict adherence to safety procedures, quality standards, and environmental regulations during all testing activities.

• Shift Flexibility:Willingness and ability to work in all three shifts.


• Good understanding of manufacturing, assembly, and electrical drawings.


• Hands-on knowledge of GIS routine testing, testing equipment, and fault diagnosis.


• Ability to maintain testing documentation, quality records, and test reports.


• Good communication skills to conduct Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and interact effectively with customers.


• Sound knowledge of Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) requirements and safe working practices.


• Good understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
