Job summary

Stanley Black & Decker India Ltd. is seeking a Manager - Quality to lead and continuously improve the quality management system across manufacturing operations in Bengaluru.

You will own QMS documentation, internal audits, and management review, while driving reductions in defects and ensuring compliance with customer and regulatory requirements. You will lead QA activities from incoming to final inspection, partner with suppliers, and support NPI/PPAP activities.

Qualifications

  • Experience leading quality management systems (ISO 9001 or equivalent) and document control.
  • Experience across production quality, including incoming, in-process, and final inspection.
  • Strong problem-solving using 8D, DMAIC, and A3.
  • Ability to drive KPIs such as PPM, FPY, COPQ, and CAPA cycle time.
  • Leadership experience guiding quality engineers and technicians.

Responsibilities

  • Own and continuously improve the QMS, including document control, internal audits, and management review.
  • Lead QA activities across production, including control plans and measurement system effectiveness.
  • Manage customer quality: handle complaints/returns, containment, root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Coordinate supplier quality with procurement; lead supplier audits and development plans.
  • Support APQP/PPAP activities, PFMEA, process validation, and readiness reviews for NPI.
  • Establish and report quality KPIs; drive continuous improvement and training.
  • Promote safety and quality culture through leadership and cross-functional teamwork.

Job description

Manager - Quality Key Responsibilities
  • Quality Management System (QMS) Own and continuously improve the QMS (e.g., ISO 9001 or equivalent), including document control, internal audits, management review, and corrective/preventive action systems. Ensure compliance with customer, corporate, and regulatory requirements.
  • Operational & Manufacturing Quality Lead quality assurance activities across production (incoming, in-process, final inspection), including control plans, inspection standards, and measurement system effectiveness. Drive reduction of scrap, rework, and defects using structured problem-solving (e.g., 8D, DMAIC, A3).
  • Customer Quality Manage customer complaints and returns, ensuring timely containment, root cause analysis, corrective actions, and effective communication. Track and improve key customer metrics (PPM, complaint rate, on-time closure of corrective actions).
  • Supplier Quality Partner with procurement and suppliers to ensure supplier capability, quality performance, and corrective action execution. Lead supplier audits and development plans; support qualification of new suppliers.
  • New Product Introduction (NPI) / Change Management Support APQP/PPAP (or equivalent) activities, including risk assessments (PFMEA), process validation, and readiness reviews. Ensure quality requirements are embedded in product and process changes.
  • Metrics, Reporting & Continuous Improvement Establish and report quality KPIs (e.g., PPM, FPY, COPQ, audit findings, CAPA cycle time). Lead continuous improvement initiatives and training to strengthen quality capability across the organization.
  • Leadership & People Management Lead, coach, and develop quality engineers/technicians and cross-functional teams. Promote a strong safety and quality culture; ensure effective communication and accountability.
