Job summary

KBR, Inc. in Pune, India seeks a senior Quality Inspector – Equipment to ensure compliance with ASME, EN, and project specifications across the manufacturing and inspection lifecycle of static process equipment such as pressure vessels, heat exchangers, and rotating equipment.

You will review ITPs, welding procedures, NDE, FATs, and coordinate QA/QC activities with suppliers and project teams, driving continuous improvement and ensuring documentation accuracy.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • 10–15 years of relevant experience, including at least 5 years in a reputable organization.
  • Strong experience in pressure vessel fabrication and inspection per ASME, EN and other codes.
  • Proven experience with ASME Code-stamped equipment and fabrication QC.
  • In-depth knowledge of welding, NDE, heat treatment, pressure testing, QA documentation.
  • Experience in inspection and QC of raw materials, fabrication processes, final product acceptance, and manufacturing records.
  • Familiarity with low-alloy steels, stainless steels, and nickel-based alloys including Inconel.
  • Experience with FAT for rotating equipment and for valves/instrumentation.
  • ISO 9001 knowledge.
  • ASNT Level II preferred.
  • CSWIP or equivalent welding certification preferred.

  • Review vendor technical proposals to ensure compliance with project and quality requirements.
  • Lead supplier qualification assessments, audits, and evaluations.
  • Conduct pre-inspection meetings with suppliers and stakeholders.
  • Review and approve quality documents, including ITPs, welding procedures, weld records, PWHT, NDE procedures, and tests.
  • Perform and oversee shop inspections per approved ITPs.
  • Coordinate Third-Party Inspection (TPI) activities and review inspection reports.
  • Develop CTQ checklists based on project specs and lessons learned.
  • Interface with suppliers, clients, engineering, procurement, and project teams on quality matters.
  • Drive continuous improvement through quality processes, tools, and best practices.

Summary Section

The Quality Inspector – Equipment role is a senior quality assurance position responsible for ensuring compliance with applicable codes, standards, and project specifications throughout the manufacturing and inspection lifecycle of static process equipment, including pressure vessels, heat exchangers, rotating equipment, and associated systems.

Qualifications Including Required Education, Experience, & Skills
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized institution.
  • 10 to 15 years of relevant experience, including at least 5 years in a reputable organization.
  • Strong experience in pressure vessel fabrication and inspection in accordance with ASME, EN, and other international codes and standards.
  • Proven experience with ASME Code-stamped equipment and fabrication quality control.
  • In-depth knowledge of welding, NDE, heat treatment, pressure testing, final inspection, and quality documentation.
  • Experience in inspection and quality control of raw materials, fabrication processes, final product acceptance, and manufacturing records.
  • Familiarity with materials such as low-alloy steels, stainless steels, and nickel-based alloys including Inconel.
  • Experience in witnessing and validating Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) for rotating equipment, including pumps, compressors, turbines, and associated auxiliary systems.
  • Experience in witnessing and validating Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) for control valves, instrumentation systems, and related automation equipment to ensure compliance with project specifications and applicable standards.
  • Sound understanding of ISO 9001 Quality Management System requirements.
  • Proficiency in Refractory and Painting Inspection Requirements will be preferred.
  • Exposure to KBR technology static equipment’s is preferred.
Preferred Qualifications Education, Experience, & Skills
  • ASNT Level II certifications in:
    • PT (Liquid Penetrant Testing)
    • MT (Magnetic Particle Testing)
    • RT (Radiographic Testing)
    • UT (Ultrasonic Testing)
Preferred
  • CSWIP or equivalent welding certification.
  • Experience in refractory and painting/coating inspections.
  • Exposure to KBR technology static equipment.
