Job summary

Sarthee Consultancy is looking for an experienced welding and hull inspection professional to assess hull and structural components for quality and compliance with ISO/IACS standards. You will monitor welding activities, inspect welds, and ensure conformity with WPS/WPQ requirements.

Ideal candidates hold welding inspection certifications and ASNT Level II in RT, UT, MPT, and DPT, with a strong focus on safety and defect prevention in heavy structural work.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, naval architecture, or related field.
• Experience inspecting hulls and structural components according to ISO/IACS standards.
• Knowledge of welding inspection and related procedures (WPS, WPQ).

Responsibilities

• Perform inspections on hull and structural components, ensuring adherence to design specifications, quality standards, and regulatory codes (ISO, IACS).
• Monitor welding activities, check for welding defects, verify adherence to WPS and WPQ.
• Identify recurring quality issues, root causes, and suggest corrective and preventive actions.
• Ensure compliance with safety protocols related to quality control activities, particularly for welding and heavy structural handling.

Role & responsibilities

• Perform inspections on hull and structural components, including raw materials, welds, assemblies, and final structures, ensuring adherence to design specifications, quality standards, and regulatory codes (such as ISO, IACS standards).
• Monitor welding activities, check for welding defects, and verify adherence to welding procedure specifications (WPS) and qualified welder performance (WPQ).
• Identify recurring quality issues, root causes, and suggest corrective and preventive actions to mitigate defects in hull and structural production.
• Ensure compliance with safety protocols related to quality control activities, particularly for high-risk tasks such as welding and heavy structural handling

Preferred candidate profile

• Certification in welding inspection (e.g., AWS Certified Welding Inspector, CSWIP)
• ASNT level II in RT, UT, MPT and DPT
