Job summary

Role Description

The Quality Control Executive is a full-time, on-site role based in Pune District. This position is responsible for monitoring and testing raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products to ensure they meet defined quality specifications and industry standards. Daily tasks include conducting laboratory tests, calibrating and maintaining testing equipment, recording and analyzing test data, and preparing clear, accurate quality reports. The role also involves collaborating with production, quality assurance, and technical teams to address non-conformity, support process improvements, and maintain compliance with internal and external quality requirements. The Quality Control Executive is expected to follow established safety protocols and contribute to continuous enhancement of quality control procedures.

Key Responsibilities

Quality Control & Testing

• Raw Material Inspection: Oversee the sampling, testing, and approval of incoming raw materials (iron ore pellets/fines, scrap, coke, alloys) to ensure they meet chemical and physical specifications.
• In-Process Monitoring: Monitor critical parameters during ironmaking (Blast Furnace/DRI) and steelmaking (EAF/BOF, Ladle Furnace, Continuous Casting) to prevent deviations.
• Finished Product Testing: Conduct or supervise destructive and non-destructive testing (NDT), tensile testing, hardness testing, metallographic analysis, and chemical composition analysis (OES/XRF).
• Defect Analysis: Identify, investigate, and categorize surface and internal defects in steel products (e.g., billets, slabs, coils, rebars).

Quality Assurance & Compliance

• QMS Maintenance: Implement and maintain the Quality Management System (QMS) in accordance with ISO 9001 and other relevant industry standards.
• Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs): Draft, review, and update SOPs, quality manuals, and inspection test plans (ITPs).
• Audits: Lead or participate in internal, customer, and third-party quality audits.
• Certification: Manage the issuance of Mill Test Certificates (MTC) and ensure product traceability from raw material to final shipment.

Required Qualifications & Experience

• Education: Bachelor's degree in B.Sc (Chemistry-Organic)
• Experience: 3-7 years of hands-on experience in QA/QC roles within a steel melting shop (SMS), rolling mill, blast furnace, or direct reduced iron (DRI) plant & Wet Analysison and teamwork skills to collaborate with cross-functional departments and support continuous improvement initiatives.
• Prior experience in quality control within the metals, minerals, or process manufacturing industry is an advantage.
• Should have experience in new set up of Lab, purchases or desired instruments & should be pro active & ready to take a lead to set up, face different Audits, Customers visit from the different part of Country & rest of the World.
