Job summary

Indiano Chrome in Bhubaneswar seeks a Manager Quality to lead the Quality Assurance and Quality Control functions, ensuring product quality, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement of the QMS across materials and processes.

You will supervise lab operations, calibrate instruments (XRF, LECO, ICP/OES), manage audits, CAPA, and coordinate with Production, Procurement, Maintenance, and Sales to meet quality objectives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or higher in Metallurgical/Chemical Engineering or Chemistry with relevant auditor certification.
  • 12–15 years in QA/QC in ferro alloys, steel, mining, or metallurgical manufacturing.
  • Strong knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001 and laboratory quality practices.
  • Hands-on lab management, audits, and ERP experience.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and maintain QMS in line with ISO standards.
  • Ensure incoming & finished materials meet approved specs.
  • Supervise lab operations and instrument calibration.
  • Lead internal and external audits and CAPA activities.
  • Drive continuous improvement and optimize costs.
  • Coordinate with Production, Procurement, Maintenance, and Sales.
  • Ensure documentation and Certificates of Analysis.

Manager Quality

Department: Quality Assurance / Quality Control (QA/QC)
Location: Bhubaneswar
Reporting To: Plant Head / Technical Director

Job Purpose

To lead and manage the Quality Assurance and Quality Control functions by ensuring consistent product quality, compliance with applicable quality standards, efficient laboratory operations, and continual improvement of the Quality Management System (QMS). The role is responsible for maintaining customer satisfaction through effective quality control, regulatory compliance, and process excellence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the implementation, maintenance, and continual improvement of the Quality Management System (QMS) in compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 standards.
  • Ensure all incoming raw materials, in-process materials, and finished products conform to approved specifications and quality standards.
  • Supervise laboratory operations, ensuring accurate, reliable, and timely chemical and physical testing.
  • Operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and ensure periodic calibration of laboratory instruments such as XRF, LECO, ICP-OES/ICP, Optical Emission Spectrometer (OES), Spectrometer, and other analytical equipment.
  • Develop, review, and standardize testing procedures, inspection methods, and laboratory documentation.
  • Monitor process quality parameters and coordinate with production teams to minimize quality deviations and improve process capability.
  • Lead internal, external, customer, and certification audits, ensuring timely closure of observations and implementation of corrective actions.
  • Investigate customer complaints, perform root cause analysis, and implement effective Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA) to prevent recurrence.
  • Ensure the accuracy and timely issuance of Certificates of Analysis (CoA), test reports, inspection records, and dispatch-related quality documentation.
  • Analyze quality trends using statistical tools and recommend process improvements to enhance product consistency and reduce rejection rates.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory, environmental, and occupational health & safety requirements related to laboratory and quality operations.
  • Manage, mentor, and develop the quality team through regular training, performance monitoring, and skill enhancement initiatives.
  • Coordinate with Production, Procurement, Maintenance, and Sales teams to achieve quality objectives and improve customer satisfaction.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing product quality, operational efficiency, and cost optimization.
Qualifications & Experience
Educational Qualification
  • B.E./B.Tech in Metallurgical Engineering or Chemical Engineering, or
  • B.Sc. (Chemistry) / M.Sc. (Chemistry)
  • Internal Auditor Certification for ISO audit.
Experience
  • 1215 years of experience in Quality Assurance/Quality Control within the ferro alloys, ferro chrome, steel, mining, or metallurgical manufacturing industry.
  • Hands-on experience in laboratory management, quality systems, customer quality requirements, and audit management.
  • Strong understanding of ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and laboratory quality practices.
  • Experience with ERP systems, quality documentation, and reporting tools.
