Qualifications

  • B.E./B.Tech in Civil Engineering is required.
  • 4+ years of experience in high-rise building projects.
  • Knowledge of BIS codes/ TE QMS is advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect materials to TE specifications and standards and conduct tests.
  • Monitor workmanship to TE quality standards across all disciplines.
  • Develop and implement QA plans and maintain documentation.
  • Record inspections, tests, and deviations; report to stakeholders.
  • Coordinate with project teams to address defects and improvements.

Job description

Role Title: Quality Control Engineer

The purpose of this role is to meticulously assess and monitor construction processes, materials, and workmanship to ensure that the project/site adheres to defined TE quality standards, regulatory, requirements, and client expectations, ultimately delivering a high- quality and compliant construction project.

Areas of Accountability:
Material Inspection and Testing:
  • Ensuring that all construction materials meet the TE specifications and standards of quality by conducting regular inspections and tests of materials and construction processes to verify compliance with project plans, specifications, material storage protocols and relevant codes and standards.
  • Ensuring testing and sample inspections (In house/External) of construction materials, such as concrete, steel, aggregates, soil etc. to verify their quality and suitability for use in line with BIS codes/ TE QMS/ Inspection & Testing Plan (ITP).
Workmanship Inspection:
  • Monitoring and inspecting the work carried out by construction workers, capability lines and subcontractors to ensure it adheres to project specifications and TE quality standards.
  • Checking for proper installation techniques and craftsmanship.
  • Inspect the quality of work performed by construction crews, including structural, electrical, plumbing, and finishing work.
  • Conduct stage wise inspection as per TE QMS, quality metrics rating, final inspection and acceptance including documentation.
  • Identify and address any deficiencies in workmanship promptly & report the same through appropriate channels.
  • Witness the testing & commissioning process & documenting the same.
Quality Assurance Plan: (QAP)
  • Implementing a comprehensive QAP for the construction project/site, outlining procedures, responsibilities, and quality standards.
  • Review and update the QAP as needed throughout the construction process at the site.
Defect Identification and Rectification:
  • Identifying and documenting any defects, deficiencies, or deviations with respect to the approved drawings, specifications, IS codes etc.
  • Collaborating with the project team to develop corrective action plans and continuous follow-ups for timely resolution of issues.
  • Implementing plans to rectify defects and ensure compliance with project requirements.
Quality Reports and Documentation:
  • Maintain accurate records of inspections, tests, and quality control activities, including photographs and reports. This includes creating inspection reports and tracking any deviations from TE QMS.
  • Providing weekly/fortnightly/monthly/quarterly reports to the applicable stakeholders like QA, Project teams, design teams, SMEs & capability lines, on the status of quality control activities and any issues that may affect the project's quality.
  • Conduct weekly and monthly quality review meetings with the project teams and the applicable stakeholders like design teams, SMEs & capability lines.
Training and Education:
  • Identify & deliver technical training and guidance to construction personnel (TE staff & tradesmen) to improve their understanding of quality standards and procedures. Maintain records of the training programs appropriately.
  • Encourage a culture of quality awareness and accountability among all project team members.
Quality Assessments:
  • Conducting quality assessments and reviews of construction processes and procedures.
  • Maintaining assessment reports and other documentations and follow-up for implementing corrective actions.
Deliverables:

Meticulously assess and monitor construction processes, materials, and workmanship to ensure that the project adheres to TE defined quality standards, regulatory requirements, and client expectations, ultimately delivering a high-quality, and compliant construction project.

  • Inspection Compliance: Ensure that all construction activities, materials, and workmanship comply with project requirements/specifications and TE QMS. Measured in terms of Inspections offered Vs. Completion
  • Material Testing: Track the percentage of incoming materials for quality as per ITP/Codes/ or agreed frequency.
  • Documentation Accuracy: Ensure that all quality documentation to be completed by the QC engineer including reports, checklists, and records, are accurate, complete, and in a timely manner.
  • Customer Identified Defects: Number of defects/snags post-handover of the home. (As per the data provided by CEM & PMD team)
  • Training and Education: Track the number of trainings delivered as per the needs. Assess the effectiveness of training programs (trainer and content) through participant feedback.
  • Inspection Rate & reporting: Track the percentage of inspections & reports completed in allocated time. Measured in terms of Offered Vs. Completion
