Job summary

BlackBerry is seeking a seasoned engineer to maintain and enhance Wi‑Fi and Networking drivers within a collaborative development environment.

You will contribute to designing and documenting software specifications, and work with customers and internal teams to deliver reliable, scalable embedded solutions for vehicle and consumer electronics. Experience with C and Python is essential, and Linux internals knowledge is highly valued.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in Wi‑Fi driver development (STA, AP, P2P, multi‑mode) and related implementations.
• Strong knowledge of Linux OS internals and kernel interfaces.
• Proficiency in C and Python; familiarity with qnx is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain Wi‑Fi and Networking driver components in an open‑development environment.
• Create and document software specifications and designs addressing customer needs.
• Provide project estimates for requirement, design, implementation and test efforts.
• Communicate status, risks and approaches to team members and management.
• Conduct design reviews, code reviews and unit testing with peers.
• Identify and resolve complex software issues and performance bottlenecks.

You will:

• Develop and maintain Wi‑Fi and Networking driver components in an open-development environment.
• Create and document software specifications and designs that address the needs of QNX customers.
• Provide project estimates for requirement, design, implementation, and test efforts.
• Provide clear communication with development team members, technical leads, and management on project status, risks and approaches.
• Conduct design reviews, code reviews and unit test with technical peers.
• Identify, analyze, and resolve potentially complex problems and inadequacies in software.
• Liaises with customers regarding product performance, problems, and system design.
• Develop custom software solutions based on customer requirements.
• Maintain an in-depth understanding of current software department approaches and standards through communication with development team members, technical leads, and management.
• Coach and mentor team on engineering best practices such as writing clean code, designing scalable, reliable, and performant software solutions, set and ensure compliance to software quality standards, safety standards etc.

You will have:

• Proven experience in Wi‑Fi driver development, including STA, AP, P2P, and multi‑mode implementations.
• Thorough knowledge of at least one interface like PCIe/SDIO/USB Good knowledge of different authentication/encryption methods on Wi‑Fi Understanding of wpa_supplicant and hostapd.
• Good understanding of Wi‑Fi control and data paths.
• Programming languages expertise in C, Python Good knowledge in Linux OS internals.
