Job summary

Motion is hiring a hands-on QA tester to ensure web and mobile quality. You will write and maintain test cases, run regression cycles, and sign off before releases.

You will test iOS and Android apps on real devices, verify data end-to-end, report clear bugs with steps and evidence, and help shape quality practices in a fast-paced startup.

Collaborating with developers and product teams, you will identify edge cases early and contribute to release readiness across multiple platforms.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of hands-on manual QA experience on web and mobile products.
• Strong experience writing structured test cases and running regression cycles.
• Hands-on mobile testing experience across iOS and Android.
• Comfortable with browser dev tools, API responses, and debugging tools.
• Basic SQL; able to run a query against PostgreSQL to verify data.

Job description

Responsibilities:

• Write and maintain test cases and regression checklists covering the web app, mobile app, and admin tools
• Execute regression passes ahead of every release and own sign-off before builds ship
• Do exploratory testing on new features
• Test the mobile app across iOS and Android on real devices, covering different OS versions, screen sizes, and network conditions
• Verify data end to end
• File clear, reproducible bug reports with steps, screenshots or screen recordings, expected vs. actual behaviour, and environment details, then verify the fixes
• Review designs and requirements early and raise the edge cases and unclear states before they get built
• Maintain test accounts and test data across staging environments
• Track recurring defect patterns and flag the areas of the product that keep breaking

Requirements:

• 2+ years of hands‑on manual QA experience on web and mobile products
• Strong experience writing structured test cases and running regression cycles
• Hands‑on mobile testing experience across both iOS and Android
• Comfortable with browser dev tools: reading console errors, inspecting network requests, checking API responses
• Basic SQL; able to run a query against PostgreSQL to confirm what the system actually recorded
• Experience with a bug tracker (Jira, Linear, or similar) and writing reports developers can act on without a follow-up conversation
• Excellent attention to detail, and the patience to reproduce intermittent bugs and narrow down what triggers them
• Clear written communication

Nice to Have:

• Exposure to test automation, or interest in growing into it
• Experience testing payment, billing, or financial transaction flows
• Experience with API testing tools like Postman
• Familiarity with mobile release channels — TestFlight, Play Console internal testing
• Experience working in a startup or fast‑paced environment
