Job summary

Motion is a North American transportation solutions company hiring a QA tester to ensure quality across web, mobile, and admin tools. You will write test cases, run regression cycles, explore new features, and verify data end to end on iOS and Android devices.

The role involves detailed bug reporting, reviewing designs early, and maintaining test data across staging environments in a fast-paced setting.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of hands-on manual QA experience on web and mobile products.
• Experience writing structured test cases and running regression cycles.
• Hands-on mobile testing experience across iOS and Android.
• Basic SQL; able to run a query against PostgreSQL to confirm what the system actually recorded.
• Experience with a bug tracker (Jira, Linear, or similar) and writing reports developers can act on without a follow-up conversation.

Responsibilities

• Write and maintain test cases and regression checklists covering the web app, mobile app, and admin tools.
• Execute regression passes ahead of every release and own sign-off before builds ship.
• Do exploratory testing on new features.
• Test the mobile app across iOS and Android on real devices, covering different OS versions, screen sizes, and network conditions.
• Verify data end to end.
• File clear, reproducible bug reports with steps, screenshots or screen recordings, expected vs. actual behaviour, and environment details, then verify the fixes.
• Review designs and requirements early and raise the edge cases and unclear states before they get built.
• Maintain test accounts and test data across staging environments.
• Track recurring defect patterns and flag the areas of the product that keep breaking.

Requirements:

• Strong experience writing structured test cases and running regression cycles
• Hands-on mobile testing experience across both iOS and Android
• Basic SQL; able to run a query against PostgreSQL to confirm what the system actually recorded
• Experience with a bug tracker (Jira, Linear, or similar) and writing reports developers can act on without a follow-up conversation
• Excellent attention to detail, and the patience to reproduce intermittent bugs and narrow down what triggers them

Nice to Have:

• Exposure to test automation, or interest in growing into it
• Experience testing payment, billing, or financial transaction flows
• Experience with API testing tools like Postman
• Familiarity with mobile release channels — TestFlight, Play Console internal testing
• Experience working in a startup or fast-paced environment
