• Audit BIM models, verify data integrity, and review clash reports to ensure construction readiness.
• Ensure deliverables comply with building regulations and life-safety codes.
• Authorize release of calculations, reports, drawings, and tender packages to clients and contractors.
• Maintain a lessons-learned repository and train design teams to reduce recurring errors.

Job description

We are seeking a highly analytical and technically rigorous QA/QC Manager (Design) to lead the quality assurance and quality control workflows within our multidisciplinary design consultancy. In this role, you will be the gatekeeper of design excellence. You will implement corporate quality management systems, lead inter-disciplinary design reviews, and ensure that all drawings, specifications, and BIM models meet the highest standards of accuracy, constructability, and regulatory compliance before they leave our office.

Key Responsibilities

• Quality Management Systems (QMS): Establish, maintain, and audit the consultancy's design-phase QA/QC protocols, ensuring full compliance with ISO 9001 (or relevant engineering quality standards).
• Inter-Disciplinary Peer Reviews: Lead independent technical reviews of design packages (from Concept to Issued for Construction) to ensure and verify coordination between Architectural, Structural, MEP, and other disciplines.
• BIM Quality Assurance: Partner with the BIM Manager to audit digital models, verify data integrity, and review automated clash-detection reports to ensure virtual models are construction-ready.
• Code & Regulatory Verification: Ensure all design deliverables strictly adhere to building regulations, life safety codes (NFPA, IBC, etc.), environmental mandates, and client briefs/contracts.
• Deliverable Sign-Off: Act as the final technical gateway, authorizing the release of calculations, reports, drawings, and tender packages to clients, project managers, and contractors.
• Continuous Improvement: Maintain a "Lessons Learned" repository, analyse feedback from construction sites, RFIs, clients, PMCs and run internal training sessions to upskill design teams and prevent recurring errors.

Required Qualifications

• Education: Bachelors degree in Civil/Structural Engineering, Architecture, or Building Services Engineering.
• Experience: Minimum of 10–15 years in building design, with at least 5–7 years directly managing QA/QC processes within a reputable engineering or architectural consultancy.
• Software Skills: Advanced proficiency in design review and coordination tools (Bluebeam Revu, Navisworks, Revit, BIM 360/Autodesk Construction Cloud, and CAD software).
• Certifications: Chartered Engineer (CEng), Professional Engineer (PE), Registered Architect, or ISO 9001 Lead Auditor status is highly preferred.
