Ultra Corpotech is seeking a seasoned Commodity Buyer (Mechanical) to join our Supply Chain Excellence team in Talegaon. The role focuses on strategic sourcing, supplier development, and cost optimization for mechanical commodities in a manufacturing setting.

The candidate should have 10+ years of experience, with strong negotiation skills and a proven track record in SAP MM/SAP Ariba and ERP platforms. Collaboration with internal teams is essential to meet procurement timelines.

Qualifications

• B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical or Production Engineering.
• 10+ years of experience in procurement, sourcing or supply chain roles.
• Experience in strategic sourcing, supplier development, cost optimization.

Responsibilities

• Procurement & Strategic Sourcing: Source and procure mechanical materials, components, and services based on production and project requirements; Manage POs using SAP/ERP; Ensure timely procurement to support production; Coordinate with internal stakeholders.
• Supplier Development & Vendor Management: Identify, onboard and develop strategic suppliers; Negotiate pricing, contracts and delivery terms; Build long-term supplier partnerships; Evaluate supplier performance and implement improvements.
• Cost Optimization & Inventory Management: Analyze market trends, identify cost reduction opportunities; Drive value engineering and cost improvement; Maintain optimal inventory levels; Support budgeting and procurement planning.
• Quality & Compliance: Ensure purchased materials meet specs and quality standards; Ensure compliance with procurement policies and contracts; Resolve supplier-related issues.
• Cross-Functional Coordination: Work with Production, Planning, Quality, Stores, Engineering and Finance; Track procurement status and expedite deliveries; Prepare procurement MIS reports and supplier dashboards.
• Other: Maintain procurement records and ensure ethical sourcing practices.

Key Responsibilities

Procurement & Strategic Sourcing

• Source and procure mechanical materials, components, and services based on production and project requirements.
• Prepare and manage Purchase Orders (POs) using SAP/ERP systems.
• Ensure timely procurement and delivery to support uninterrupted production.
• Coordinate with internal stakeholders to meet procurement timelines.

Supplier Development & Vendor Management

• Identify, evaluate, onboard, and develop strategic suppliers.
• Negotiate pricing, contracts, payment terms, and delivery schedules.
• Build long-term supplier partnerships to ensure quality, reliability, and competitiveness.
• Evaluate supplier performance and implement improvement initiatives.

Cost Optimization & Inventory Management

• Analyze market trends and identify cost reduction opportunities.
• Drive value engineering and continuous cost improvement initiatives.
• Maintain optimum inventory levels while minimizing excess stock and shortages.
• Support budgeting and procurement planning activities.

Quality & Compliance

• Ensure purchased materials meet technical specifications and quality standards.
• Ensure compliance with procurement policies, contractual obligations, and ethical sourcing practices.
• Resolve supplier-related issues involving quality, delivery, shortages, or commercial disputes.

Cross-Functional Coordination

• Work closely with Production, Planning, Quality, Stores, Engineering, and Finance teams.
• Track procurement status and expedite critical deliveries.
• Prepare procurement MIS reports, supplier performance dashboards, purchase order status reports, and cost-saving reports.
