Qualifications

• Experience in API, excipients, ingredients, RAW materials, packaging materials and consumables preferred.
• Nutraceutical industry experience is highly preferred.
• Strong vendor management and negotiation skills.
• Proficiency in MS Excel and ERP/software-based purchase systems.

Responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end procurement of pharmaceutical/nutraceutical raw materials, packing materials, consumables, and other required items.
• Identify, evaluate, develop, and maintain reliable vendors and suppliers.
• Obtain quotations, compare prices, negotiate terms, and finalize purchase orders.
• Ensure timely availability of materials per production and inventory requirements.
• Coordinate with Production, QA, QC, Stores, R&D, Finance, and other departments.
• Monitor orders and follow up with suppliers for delivery schedules and pending materials.
• Maintain optimum inventory levels and avoid stock-outs or excess stock.

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced and result-oriented Purchase Manager to manage procurement activities for Raw Materials, Packing Materials, consumables, and other company requirements. The ideal candidate should have experience in the Pharmaceutical industry, with Nutraceutical industry experience preferred.

The candidate will be responsible for vendor development, purchase planning, price negotiation, timely procurement, quality coordination, inventory support, and ensuring uninterrupted availability of materials for production and other business requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end procurement of pharmaceutical/nutraceutical raw materials, packing materials, consumables, and other required items.
• Identify, evaluate, develop, and maintain reliable vendors and suppliers.
• Obtain quotations, compare prices, negotiate commercial terms, and finalize purchase orders.
• Ensure timely availability of materials as per production and inventory requirements.
• Coordinate with Production, Quality Assurance, Quality Control, Stores, R&D, Finance, and other departments for material requirements.
• Monitor purchase orders and follow up with suppliers for delivery schedules and pending materials.
• Maintain optimum inventory levels and avoid stock-outs or excess inventory.
• Develop alternate sources for critical raw materials and packing materials.
• Evaluate vendors based on quality, price, delivery, service, and reliability.
• Coordinate with the Quality team for vendor qualification, documentation, specifications, COA, and other quality requirements.
• Ensure procurement is carried out in accordance with company procedures and applicable GMP/quality requirements.
• Handle supplier issues related to delays, shortages, quality complaints, price changes, and replacement materials.
• Maintain proper procurement records, purchase orders, quotations, comparative statements, and vendor documentation.
• Track market trends and raw material/packing material prices to identify cost-saving opportunities.
• Negotiate with suppliers to achieve competitive pricing, payment terms, lead times, and other commercial benefits.
• Support management in cost reduction, vendor development, and procurement strategy.
• Prepare regular reports related to purchase status, pending orders, material availability, vendor performance, and cost savings.
• Ensure smooth procurement of other office, engineering, maintenance, and general company requirements, as applicable.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy, Chemistry, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
• 3–6 years of relevant experience in Purchase/Procurement in the Pharmaceutical industry.
• Experience in procurement of API, excipients, ingredients, raw materials, packaging materials, and consumables will be preferred.
• Nutraceutical industry experience is highly preferred.
• Strong vendor management and negotiation skills.
• Good knowledge of procurement processes and inventory management.
• Good communication, coordination, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in MS Excel and ERP/software-based purchase systems.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and manage multiple procurement requirements.

Preferred Candidate Profile

• Experience in Pharmaceutical / Nutraceutical / Food Supplement manufacturing.
• Good understanding of raw material and packaging material specifications and procurement documentation.
• Strong network of suppliers/vendors in the pharmaceutical or nutraceutical sector.
• Commercially sound with strong negotiation and cost-control abilities.
• Ability to ensure on-time procurement without compromising quality and compliance.
