Job summary

CHANDIGARH UNIVERSITY in Mohali invites a Purchase Executive Biotechnology to handle end-to-end procurement for life sciences labs, including reagents, glassware, kits, and equipment.

You will prepare PRs, RFQs, CS, POs, coordinate with faculty, negotiate with vendors, ensure quality and budget compliance, track deliveries, and maintain MIS reports to support research projects.

Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Chemistry, Biotechnology, Biosciences, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or related Life Sciences.
  • Candidates with a Chemistry background will be preferred.
  • Certification in Supply Chain Management or Procurement will be an added advantage.

Responsibilities

  • Handle end-to-end procurement for Biotechnology, Biosciences, Chemistry, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or allied departments.
  • Purchase laboratory chemicals, reagents, solvents, culture media, biological kits, glassware, instruments, and consumables.
  • Prepare PRs, RFQs, Comparative Statements, POs, and procurement documentation.
  • Coordinate with faculty, researchers, laboratory staff, and department heads to understand requirements.
  • Identify, evaluate, and develop reliable vendors for laboratory equipment and supplies.
  • Negotiate pricing, terms, delivery schedules, warranties, and AMC/CMC contracts.
  • Ensure timely procurement with quality standards and budgetary compliance.
  • Maintain supplier database and monitor vendor performance.
  • Ensure procurement complies with university policies, audits, and regulations.
  • Track deliveries and resolve procurement-related issues with vendors.
  • Maintain records and prepare MIS reports.
  • Monitor inventory with stores to avoid shortages of essential materials.
  • Support procurement for research projects and new lab setups.

Job description

Job Title: Purchase Executive Biotechnology
Key Responsibilities:

Handle end-to-end procurement for Biotechnology, Biosciences, Chemistry, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, and other allied departments.

Purchase laboratory chemicals, reagents, solvents, culture media, biological kits, laboratory glassware, plasticware, scientific instruments, and research consumables.

Prepare and process Purchase Requisitions (PR), Requests for Quotations (RFQ), Comparative Statements (CS), Purchase Orders (PO), and procurement documentation.

Coordinate with faculty members, researchers, laboratory staff, and department heads to understand procurement requirements.

Identify, evaluate, and develop reliable vendors for laboratory equipment and scientific supplies.

Negotiate pricing, payment terms, delivery schedules, warranties, and annual maintenance contracts (AMC/CMC).

Ensure timely procurement while maintaining quality standards and budgetary compliance.

Maintain supplier database and monitor vendor performance.

Ensure procurement complies with university policies, audit requirements, and statutory regulations.

Track delivery schedules and resolve procurement-related issues with vendors.

Maintain records of procurement activities and prepare MIS reports.

Monitor inventory levels in coordination with stores to avoid shortages of essential laboratory materials.

Support procurement for research projects, funded laboratories, accreditation requirements, and new laboratory setups.

Required Qualifications:

Master's Degree (M.Sc.) in Chemistry, Biotechnology, Biosciences, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related Life Sciences discipline.

Candidates with a Chemistry background will be preferred.

Certification in Supply Chain Management or Procurement will be an added advantage.

Experience:

Minimum 3–6 yearsof experience in procurement or purchase of laboratory equipment and scientific materials.

Experience in educational institutions, research laboratories, pharmaceutical companies, biotech industries, CROs, or scientific organizations is preferred.

Familiarity with procurement of imported scientific instruments and chemicals will be an advantage.
