Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent; MSc/MBA in SCM advantageous.
  • 2–5 years of procurement and sourcing experience.
  • Experience in techno-commercial bid evaluations and vendor onboarding.
  • Strong negotiation skills with ability to manage contracts and LD clauses.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret datasheets and specs to identify procurement requirements.
  • Identify, audit, and onboard qualified vendors and fabricators meeting quality standards.
  • Conduct techno-commercial comparisons to evaluate bids on capability, cost, and delivery.
  • Negotiate pricing, milestones, guarantees, warranties, and delivery terms.
  • Draft and finalize POs and TPS with clear terms and LD clauses.
  • Expedite timelines through regular factory visits and progress checks.
  • Coordinate pre-dispatch inspections with QA or third-party agencies.
  • Resolve RFIs between suppliers and internal teams.
  • Analyze raw material market trends to mitigate price volatility.
  • Develop alternative sourcing options including localization and dual-sourcing.

Job description

The Purchase Engineer is responsible for sourcing, evaluating, and procuring technical equipment, raw materials, custom-fabricated parts, and engineering services. This role conducts technical-commercial bid evaluations, manages specialized vendor bases, and leads cost-engineering initiatives to ensure project specifications, quality standards, and budget targets are strictly met.

Years of Experience: 2 to 5 Years

Qualification: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent Technical Diploma. A Master’s degree or MBA in Supply Chain Management is advantageous.

Responsibilities:
  • Interpret technical datasheets, Material specifications to identify correct procurement requirements.
  • Identify, audit, and onboard qualified technical vendors and specialized fabricators capable of meeting strict Industrial tolerances and quality standards.
  • Conduct Techno-Commercial Comparisons (TCC) to evaluate supplier bids based on technical capability, compliance with specifications, cost, and delivery timelines.
  • Negotiation & Contract Management
  • Negotiate pricing, payment milestones, technical guarantees, warranties, and delivery schedules for engineering equipment and raw materials.
  • Draft and finalize purchase orders (POs) and technical purchase specifications (TPS) ensuring clear contractual terms, liquidated damages (LD) clauses, and quality acceptance criteria.
  • Procurement Project Management & Expediting
  • Expedite manufacturing and delivery timelines for critical components through regular factory visits, progress checks, and vendor milestones.
  • Coordinate pre-dispatch inspections (PDI) with internal Quality Assurance or third-party inspection agencies (TPIA).
  • Resolve queries (RFIs) between suppliers and internal teams.
  • Cost Optimization & Market Analysis
  • Analyze trends in raw material markets to time purchases and mitigate price volatility risks.
  • Develop alternative sourcing options (localization, import substitution, dual-sourcing) for critical single-source components.
Skills Required:
  • Strong technical-commercial negotiation capability.
  • Analytical approach to cost breakdowns and Should-Cost modeling.
  • Effective cross-functional communication between Departments and business units.
Technical Skills
  • Proficiency in Understanding Material Technical Specification, Standard. .
  • Hands-on experience with ERP systems
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes .
