Job summary

Axalta seeks a Process Engineer to scale up new products from R&D to full-scale production, optimise manufacturing processes, and improve quality and yield. You will support process safety management, SOPs, and batch records while collaborating with R&D, Manufacturing, Quality, and EHS teams.

The role requires 3–5 years in chemical/coatings, strong knowledge of Lean Six Sigma, DOE, SPC, RCA, and proficiency with SCADA/PLC. Excellent communication and project management skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering/technology.
• 3–5 years in chemical/coatings industry, R&D lab, or manufacturing.
• Experience with process automation and control systems (SCADA/PLC).
• Strong knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma (DMAIC), DOE, SPC, RCA, and data analysis.
• Ability to read and review P&IDs for process understanding and safety.

Job Description:Scale-up and Support: Lead the transition of new or modified products from R & D to full-scale production, ensuring process feasibility.Process Development & Improvement: Design, execute, and optimise manufacturing processes through experimentation, troubleshooting, and technology upgrades to improve efficiency, reduce cycle time, enhance product quality, and deliver yield and cost improvements.Safety & Compliance: Provide technical support to Process safety management (PSM), Management of Change-Technology, Process Hazard Analysis (PHA), and develop/update SOPs and batch records. Data Management: Maintain and improve master data to ensure accurate and reliable production information.Data Analysis & Technical Support: Analyse manufacturing data and metrics to drive decisions while troubleshooting equipment and optimizing batch and continuous processes.Collaborate cross-functionally with R&D, Manufacturing, Quality, and EHS to support process control, new product alignment, and CAPA initiatives.Required skills and qualificationsEducation: Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering / technologyExperience: 3 to 5 years of Experience in chemical/coatings industry, R&D lab, or manufacturing.Experience with process automation and control systems.Basic knowledge of automation and control systems, such as SCADA and PLC.Strong knowledge of process optimization techniques including Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma (DMAIC), DOE, SPC, root cause analysis, and statistical data analysis.Ability to read, interpret, and review P&IDs for process understanding, troubleshooting, safety, and operational support.Working knowledge of process safety, risk assessment and compliance.Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.Strong project management skills with the ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.Axalta operates its business in two segments: Performance Coatings and Mobility Coatings, which serve four end markets, including Refinish, Industrial, Light Vehicle and Commercial Vehicle, across North America, EMEA, Latin America and Asia-Pacific.
