Job summary

V-Mart in Bengaluru is seeking an experienced Project Leader to drive civil construction and store development from initiation to handover. You will supervise site execution, ensure drawings and BOQs are followed, and coordinate across internal teams and external partners.

Key Responsibilities

1. Project Execution & Site Supervision

• Supervise civil construction and store development projects from initiation to completion.
• Monitor execution of civil, structural, finishing and related store development activities.
• Ensure projects are executed as per approved drawings, specifications, BOQ and project timelines.
• Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress and identify execution issues.
• Ensure proper sequencing and coordination of various project activities.
• Monitor project milestones and highlight delays, risks and dependencies.

2. Team Management

• Manage and guide 34 Project Coordinators responsible for individual projects/sites.
• Allocate projects and responsibilities within the team.
• Review project progress, site updates and pending actions with Project Coordinators.
• Ensure timely reporting, documentation and closure of project activities.
• Coach team members on project coordination, vendor management and site execution practices.

3. Contractor & Vendor Management

• Coordinate with civil contractors, vendors, architects, consultants and other agencies.
• Monitor contractor performance against agreed timelines, quality and scope.
• Coordinate for manpower, materials and resources required for project execution.
• Identify execution gaps and ensure timely corrective actions.
• Support evaluation and performance tracking of contractors/vendors.

4. Cost & Budget Control

• Monitor project costs against approved budgets and BOQs.
• Verify measurements, work completion and contractor bills.
• Identify cost overruns and deviations and elevate them appropriately.
• Ensure additional works/variations are properly documented and approved before execution.

5. Quality & Compliance

• Ensure construction and finishing work meets V-Mart's defined quality standards.
• Monitor workmanship, material quality and adherence to approved specifications.
• Ensure compliance with applicable safety and statutory requirements at project sites.
• Coordinate for rectification of quality issues and ensure timely closure.

6. Project Coordination & Stakeholder Management

• Coordinate with internal teams including Projects, Business/Operations, Procurement, Finance, Leasing and other stakeholders as required.
• Coordinate with architects and consultants for drawings, revisions and technical clarifications.
• Ensure project-related approvals and dependencies are followed up.
• Provide regular project status updates to management.

7. Store Opening & Handover

• Ensure civil and construction activities are completed within the committed store opening timeline.
• Coordinate final snagging, rectification and closure activities.
• Ensure project documentation and handover are completed properly.
• Support smooth transition of completed stores to the Operations team.
