Job summary

Sarthee Consultancy in Mumbai invites an experienced Process Engineer to lead design and execution of chemical plant projects.

You will prepare mass and energy balances, PFDs, P&IDs, equipment sizing, and coordinate with vendors and stakeholders to ensure safe, cost-effective solutions across greenfield and brownfield ventures.

This role requires hands-on technical leadership and close collaboration with engineering teams to deliver robust, compliant process designs.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of experience in green field and brown field projects in specialty chemicals.
• Knowledge of dryers (spin flash, calciner, spray dryer, box dryer, rotary calciner) and utilities.
• Experience with process data sheets, equipment lists, and interlocks.

Responsibilities

• Prepare Mass Balance & Energy Balance, PFD, P&ID and conceptual plant layout drawing.
• Process calculations related to equipment sizing, line sizing, pump sizing, utility loads.
• Prepare P&ID for existing/conceptual processes with equipment and line lists.
• Coordinate with stakeholders, consultants and vendors for basic and detailed engineering.
• Prepare equipment data sheets and technical RFQs; evaluate quotes with stakeholders.
• Assist project manager with cost estimation, project charter, Gantt chart and budget tracking.
• Support HAZOP, MOC, and PSSR for new plant/equipment.
• Carry out trials on newly purchased equipment and pre-commissioning activities.
• Interact with vendors to collect quotation, GA drawings, P&ID, QAP and other documents for new equipment.

Role & responsibilities

• Prepare Mass Balance & Energy Balance, PFD, P&ID and conceptual plant layout drawing.
• Process calculations related to equipment sizing, line sizing, Pump Sizing, Utility load calculations.
• To prepare P&ID for Existing/Conceptual process with Equipment, Instrument list, Line list, and Interlock details.
• Coordination with Stakeholders, consultants and vendors for Basic Engineering, Detailed Engineering, Technical evaluation.
• Coordination to prepare equipment data sheet from respective stakeholders.
• Preparation of Technical RFQ and floating enquiries for quote collection.
• Preparation of Technical comparison sheet and review with all the stakeholders, and minutes of meeting for key meetings/discussions.
• Assisting Project manager in preparation of cost estimation, project charter, Gant chart and tracking of cost vs budget along with project timeline.
• Participation in HAZOP, MOC and conduct PSSR for new plant/equipment.
• To carry out trials in newly purchased equipment before handing over to the production department, Pre Commissioning and Commissioning related activities.
• To interact with the vendors for collection of quotation, GA Drawings, P&ID, QAP and other documents for new equipment.

Preferred candidate profile

• Minimum 5 years of experience in green field & brown field project of specialty chemicals/ process/ catalyst/ solid and liquid handling system-based plants.
• Knowledge and experience of Dryers (spin flash dryer and calciner, Spray drier, Box dryer, rotary calciner), Agitated tanks & utilities.
