Job summary

vConstruct is seeking a seasoned Project Manager – Planning to lead data center planning for India projects. You will develop and monitor integrated master schedules, coordinating with clients, consultants, vendors, and internal teams to ensure timely construction and commissioning.

Ideal candidates have 15+ years in project planning, with on-site data center experience and strong skills in Primavera and MS Project.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and baseline integrated master schedules for Data Center projects covering Civil, Architectural, MEP, ELV, ICT and Commissioning activities.
• Monitor progress against baselines and identify delays, constraints and recovery opportunities.
• Develop micro schedules, recovery plans, and weekly lookahead schedules.
• Plan and monitor procurement schedules for long-lead equipment (UPS, DG, Chillers, Transformers, Switchgear, CRAH/CRAC, BMS).
• Coordinate with vendors, subcontractors and internal teams to resolve project issues.
• Manage construction sequencing and interface coordination among Civil, MEP, OEM vendors and Commissioning teams.
• Review contractor resource deployment and milestone achievements for target alignment.
• Maintain Risk Registers and track mitigation and closure actions.
• Conduct delay analysis and schedule impact assessments.
• Track testing and commissioning activities through Level 5 handover requirements.
• Ensure milestones and deliverables align with schedules and plans.
• Support value engineering and time/cost optimization initiatives.
• Optimize site logistics, material flow, and coordination to minimize bottlenecks.
• Establish project KPIs and governance standards for Data Center projects.
• Present weekly/monthly reviews highlighting critical path, risks, and readiness.

vConstruct is looking for aProject Manager – Planning to support its Construction Management – India (CMI) business unit, where vConstruct functions as a Technology Enabled Project Management Consultant for AI / hyperscale data center projects in India.

vConstruct currently has a team of 600+ people providing services for planning, estimation, project management, design and construction integration (design review, coordination and shop drawing workflows) and as well as enterprise functions for construction companies in USA by leveraging technologies such as BIM, Software Development, Data Science and Analytics, AI/ML etc.

Project Manager - Planning for Data Center projects is responsible for developing, monitoring, and controlling integrated project schedules to ensure timely delivery of construction and commissioning activities. The role involves coordinating with clients, consultants, contractors, vendors, and internal teams to manage project sequencing, procurement tracking, progress monitoring, risk mitigation, and recovery planning while ensuring alignment with project milestones, execution priorities, and overall project objectives. Adequate knowledge on Procurement activities which includes different types of MEP equipment, inputs required for defining sizing / capacity, design requirements, knowledge of major equipment suppliers and delivery timelines is preferred.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and baseline integrated master schedules for Data Center projectsusing Primavera P6 / Microsoft Project covering Civil, Architectural, MEP, ELV,ICT, and Commissioning activities.
• Monitor project progress against baseline schedules andidentifycriticaldelays, constraints, and recovery opportunities.
• Develop detailed micro schedules, recovery schedules, shutdown plans, andweekly 2-week/3-week lookahead plans.
• Plan andmonitorprocurement schedules for long-lead mission criticalequipment such as UPS, DG, Chillers, Transformers, Switchgear, CRAH/CRAC, andBMS systems.
• Coordinate daily with vendors and subcontractors to review Plan vs Actualprogress, manpower deployment, material status, manufacturing progress, anddelivery timelines.
• Coordinate with internal teams including Civil, MEP, Procurement, Design,QA/QC, Contracts, and Execution teams for timely resolution of projectissues.
• Manage construction sequencing and interface coordination among Civil, MEP,OEM vendors and Commissioning teams
• Review contractor resource deployment, manpower histograms, productivityreports, and milestone achievements to ensure alignment with projecttargets.
• Maintain Risk Registers, identify project risks, and monitor mitigation andclosure actions.
• Conduct delay analysis, schedule impact assessments, extension-of-timeevaluations, and maintain delay logs
• Track andmonitortesting & commissioning activities including Level 1to Level 5 commissioning and phased handover requirements.
• Ensure contractual milestones and project deliverables are aligned withapproved schedules and execution plans.
• Support Value Engineering and time/cost optimization initiatives to improveproject delivery efficiency.Coordinate with costing/budgeting teams for thesame.
• Optimizesitelogistics, material flow, and construction coordination tominimizeexecutionbottlenecks and last-mile inefficiencies.
• Establish project KPIs, planning procedures, reporting systems, andgovernance standards aligned withDataCenterprojectrequirements.
• Present weekly and monthly project execution reviews highlighting criticalpath status, risks, mitigation plans, commissioning readiness, and overallproject performance.

Qualifications & Experience

Education

B.E./B.Tech in Electrical / Mechanical Engineering

Master's degree in construction management – preferred

Experience

15+ years of relevant industry experience.

Minimum 6 – 8 years of experience in Project Planning while based on-site

Experience of having worked in at least 2 - 3 data center projects for complete life cycle as Assistant Project Manager – Planning

Working experience with MEP General Contractors or MEP Equipment Suppliers is preferred

Technical Requirements

Strong knowledge and hands on experience of using MS Project / Primavera

Strong understanding of overall project and construction management for AI / hyperscale data centers

Technology-driven mindset; exposure to BIM/VDC tools is an advantage

Strong communication and coordination skills
