Tata Consultancy Services Limited is seeking a Senior Lead Application Developer & Project Manager (Intralogistics & Warehouse Automation) to drive design, development, and integration of automation applications for AS/RS, conveyors, AGVs/AMRs, and related systems.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in intralogistics or warehouse automation.
• Strong understanding of warehouse processes, material flow, and logistics operations.
• Experience with WMS/WCS architecture and integration.
• Hands-on experience integrating PLC-based systems (Siemens, Rockwell, Beckhoff, etc.).
• Knowledge of industrial communication protocols such as Profinet, Ethernet/IP, OPC UA, or Modbus.
• Proven experience delivering complex warehouse automation projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and development of automation applications for AS/RS, conveyors, and AGVs/AMRs.
• Define architecture integrating WMS, WCS, PLCs and material handling equipment.
• Oversee testing, simulation, and performance optimization for throughput and reliability.
• Own end-to-end project delivery from requirements through commissioning and handover.
• Coordinate cross-functional teams across software, controls, mechanical, IT, and operations.
• Serve as primary technical interface with customers, vendors, and stakeholders.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities – Intralogistics & Automation Application Leadership

• Lead the design and development of automation applications for AS/RS, conveyors, sortation systems, pallet and case handling solutions, AGVs/AMRs, and goods-to-person systems.
• Define application architecture integrating WMS, WCS, PLCs and material handling equipment.
• Lead development of routing, sequencing, task allocation, exception handling, and recovery logic.
• Integrate warehouse automation systems with WMS, ERP, MES, and host systems.
• Oversee system testing, simulation, tuning, and performance optimization for throughput and reliability.
• Support commissioning, go-live, and stabilization of warehouse automation systems.

Key Responsibilities – Project & Delivery Management

• Own end-to-end project delivery from requirements definition through commissioning and operational handover.
• Define project scope, schedules, milestones, budgets, and delivery plans.
• Lead cross-functional teams including software, controls, mechanical, electrical, IT, and operations.
• Act as the primary technical interface with customers, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
• Manage project risks, dependencies, and change requests.
• Drive FAT, SAT, operational readiness, and final acceptance activities.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in intralogistics or warehouse automation systems.
• Strong understanding of warehouse processes, material flow, and logistics operations.
• Experience with WMS/WCS architecture and integration.
• Hands-on experience integrating PLC-based systems (Siemens, Rockwell, Beckhoff, etc.).
• Knowledge of industrial communication protocols such as Profinet, Ethernet/IP, OPC UA, or Modbus.
• Proven experience delivering complex warehouse automation projects.

Preferred / Good to Have

• Experience with high-throughput distribution centers or e-commerce fulfillment centers.
• Exposure to simulation, digital twins or throughput modeling.
• Experience integrating vision, barcode, RFID, dimensioning or weighing systems.
• PMP / Scrum or equivalent project management certification.
• Willingness to travel for project execution and site commissioning.
