The candidate will head a multidisciplinary team of up to 100 engineers, designers, draftspersons and support staff, ensuring effective coordination, planning, commercial control and client management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or higher in engineering; 8+ years in design office for process plants.
• Experience in multidisciplinary coordination and large team management.
• Willingness to work full-time from Mumbai or Pune.

Responsibilities

• Lead design office and engineering activities across process, mechanical, civil/structural, electrical, instrumentation.
• Plan resources, monitor work hours, and improve team productivity.
• Develop and baseline project schedules using MS Project; track milestones and deliverables.
• Manage document control, drawing releases, vendor documents and client reviews.
• Prepare progress reports and management presentations.
• Control project costing, budgeting and milestone billing; manage variation orders.

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Project Manager Design Office to independently lead and manage complete design and detailed engineering operations for process plant projects.

The candidate will be responsible for leading a multidisciplinary engineering team of up to 100 engineers, designers, draftspersons and support staff, while ensuring effective technical coordination, project planning, commercial control, quality compliance and client management.

Key Responsibilities

Design & Engineering Leadership

• Lead basic and detailed engineering activities across Process, Mechanical, Civil/Structural/Architecture, Electrical, Instrumentation and IT/Systems.
• Drive process understanding including material flow, manufacturing processes, equipment requirements, space planning, automation, manpower, utilities, environmental and safety requirements.
• Ensure effective multidisciplinary coordination, interface management and clash resolution.

Team & Resource Management

• Lead and manage a design office team of up to 100 professionals.
• Plan and allocate engineering resources across multiple projects.
• Monitor work hours, resolve bottlenecks and improve team productivity.

Project Planning & Monitoring

• Develop, baseline and monitor project schedules using MS Project.
• Track critical path milestones and engineering deliverables.
• Manage document control, drawing release schedules, vendor documents and client review cycles.
• Prepare daily, weekly and monthly progress reports and management/client presentations.

Commercial & Cost Management

• Handle project engineering costing, man-hour estimation and budgeting.
• Monitor scope variations and project costs.
• Manage milestone billing, variation orders, claims and payment collection.

Quality & Design Review

• Review plant layouts, GA drawings and technical design deliverables using AutoCAD.
• Ensure compliance with SOPs, design safety requirements, HAZOP/SIL reviews, environmental guidelines and applicable regulatory standards.

Client & Stakeholder Management

• Act as the primary technical and managerial point of contact for clients, vendors, sub-consultants and senior management.
• Handle technical discussions, coordination, negotiation and issue resolution.

Candidate Requirements

• Education: B.E. / B.Tech / M.E. / M.Tech in Engineering.
• Experience: Minimum 8+ years of experience in design office and detailed engineering execution for process plants.
• Strong experience in Chemical, Specialty Chemical, FMCG, Food, Pharma plants and Industrial Utilities.
• Strong multidisciplinary engineering and project management experience.
• Willingness to work full-time from Mumbai or Pune office.
