Process Engineer – Section Head, Process Engineering (Mumbai)
We are looking for a highly experienced Process Engineer to lead and deliver projects in the Mumbai region.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with the internal team to deliver client projects while continuously developing technical skills.
- Assist in establishing and monitoring project schedules and quality of design work, including modelling and deliverables, for projects headed by the Project Lead Engineer.
- Review work‑hour estimates and deliverable schedules for proposals and projects managed by Leads.
- Participate in discussions with Head Office Decision Makers for proposal scope, effort finalisation and benchmarking.
- Provide technical expertise and support to Leads to ensure design and implementation integrity, and implement region‑specific requirements.
- Identify technical risks, define mitigating actions and collect, analyse and share best practices on GID projects.
- Engage in major issue resolution and problem‑solving, achieving milestones and applying lessons learned across programmes.
- Attend bi‑weekly calls with Managers (HO) of their assigned regions and support the Department Manager in building relationships with the lead office.
- Serve as the go‑to person for new work and projects for Key Account Managers, Project Managers and Project Engineering Managers.
- Resolve interface issues by coordinating with other discipline section heads.
- Conduct regular meetings with Project Lead Engineers and their teams to review billability, productivity, schedule adherence, quality issues, risk analysis and audit findings.
- Track KPI status and promote sustainability and SID data‑centric approaches across all projects and programmes in the region.
- Lead Digital Bot implementation, monitor planned savings versus actual and foster awareness among teams.
- Ensure optimal utilisation of resources in coordination with the DM and promote proactive variation note management for scope changes or delays.
- Act as a Lead Engineer on dedicated projects and collaborate with other Section Heads to align on common priorities and learning.
- Develop Individual Development Plans for succession planning with the DM.
- Discuss competency improvements for the region and support corrective actions.
Required Technical Skills
- Fire zone mapping, fire water demand calculations, adequacy checks and ring main hydraulics.
- Hydrant layout, fire protection P&IDs and active fire protection equipment datasheets.
- Vendor engineering (MR, TBE, VDR) of active fire protection and clean‑agent systems.
- Hazardous area classification, fire proofing, fire & gas detector mapping, escape route layouts and safety equipment layouts.
- Dispersion studies and consequence analysis.
- Preparation of TORs for various safety studies, HAZOP/HAZID participation.
Qualifications & Background
- Recognised degree in Chemical Engineering (B.TECH/B.E.).
- 20–30 years of professional experience in process engineering.
- Sound technical and practical engineering skills with consistent delivery of quality, accurate and timely work.
- Working knowledge of fundamental process engineering requirements and basic requirements of other engineering disciplines.
- Familiarity with applicable local and international standards, statutory and regulatory specifications.
Benefits and Working Hours
Salary above ₹300,000 per month.
