Job summary

SMS India Pvt Ltd, a 100 percent subsidiary of SMS group, seeks a seasoned Project Manager (IMP) to plan and execute metallurgical projects. You will lead a cross-functional team, control scope, schedule, and cost, and drive risk mitigation and contract management for challenging EPC assignments.

The role requires 15–20 years in the iron and steel sector, and experience with EPC projects. Strong leadership and technical understanding are essential for successful project delivery in India.

Qualifications

• 15–20 years of experience in Iron and Steel sector.
• Experience in project management for metallurgical plants.
• Understanding of metallurgical engineering and technology.
• EPC projects experience preferred (Greenfield/Brownfield/Modernization).

Responsibilities

• Assume global responsibility for planning and execution of a project or projects, ensuring scope, time and cost targets are met.
• Lead a team and manage resources across multiple functions.
• Control resources to meet constraints (scope, schedule, cost, quality).
• Provide alternate solutions when plans change.
• Conduct risk analysis and mitigation measures.
• Review costs and revenues against budget.
• Manage contractual variations and claims.
• Close project upon completion.

YOU ACT

• Assume global responsibility regarding the planning and execution of a specific project or projects, ensuring that the objective set are met and the scope, time and cost requirements are respected.
• The candidate must have experience working in metallurgical plants like Blast Furnace, Coke Oven, CDQ, BOF etc.
• Control the resources assigned to the project in order to meet and manage the constraints (scope, schedule, cost, quality, etc.) of the project.
• Provide alternate solutions in the event that things do not go as planned in the first moment.
• Risk study, analysis and mitigation measures.
• Review of cost and comparison with budget. Review of revenues.
• Management of contractual variations and claims.
• Closing project.

YOU KNOW

• Conflict Management & Negotiation Skills, Stakeholder Management
• Leading a team of around 5-10 people who are responsible for multiple functions.
• Overall knowledge about Technical aspect, Managerial aspects, Project handling, Contract Management, Estimation, Commercial / Financials, Site Management, Risk Management, Claim Management etc.
• Knowledge & Experience of EPC projects (preferable) - Greenfield/Brownfield/Modernization.

Technical Skills Set

• Education: Bachelors’ degree (B.E. or B.Tech. - preferably in Mechanical) or up; Assessable PMP
• Experience: 15 – 20 years of experience performing similar functions in the sector Iron and Steel
• Project management experience is essential/preferable
• Understanding of Metallurgical aspects and technology/engineering.
