Job summary

Tata Consulting Engineers is seeking an experienced Project Controls Lead in Kolkata to oversee planning, scheduling, cost control, and risk management from bid stage to commissioning. You will develop integrated schedules in Primavera P6, monitor performance, and drive improvements across multi-disciplinary teams.

The role requires a strong background in EPC/consultancy environments, advanced P6 skills, and hands-on cost management experience with PRISM, plus leadership and stakeholder

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering is mandatory; PMP certification preferred.
  • NICMAR PG qualification is highly preferred for Construction/Project/Infrastructure Management roles.
  • 10+ years of experience in Project Controls, Planning & Scheduling, PMO, Cost Management, or Program Management in EPC, Consultancy, OEM, Owner, or Engineering organisations.
  • Strong experience in metals, mining, smelters, mineral processing, heavy industrial, power, oil & gas, or similar process industries.
  • Advanced proficiency in Primavera P6 with planning, scheduling, forecasting, baseline management, EVM, cost control, budgeting, cash flow forecasting and project reporting.
  • Hands-on experience in PRISM or equivalent cost management tools, risk identification, risk analysis, and mitigation planning.
  • Proven experience in contractor management, construction monitoring, resource management, productivity improvement, and multidisciplinary project delivery.
  • Led at least one large project from concept to commissioning and managed multiple projects/accounts.

Responsibilities

  • Lead project planning, scheduling, cost control, risk management, and project controls from bid stage through execution and commissioning.
  • Develop and manage integrated project schedules (L2-L4) using Primavera P6, including baseline development and critical path analysis.
  • Monitor progress, cost performance, cash flow, budgets, EAC, and Earned Value Management with variance analysis.
  • Identify and manage project risks, opportunities, and cost/schedule risk models with mitigation planning.
  • Drive resource planning, contractor performance monitoring, and construction management to improve outcomes.
  • Support constructability reviews and establish project controls procedures and governance frameworks.
  • Prepare dashboards, reports, and presentations for teams and leadership.

Job description

Role & responsibilities
  • Lead project planning, scheduling, cost control, risk management, and project controls activities from bid stage through execution and commissioning.
  • Develop and manage integrated project schedules (L2-L4) using Primavera P6 (PPM/EPPM), including baseline development, critical path analysis, forecasting, and recovery planning.
  • Monitor project progress, cost performance, cash flow, budgets, EAC, and Earned Value Management (EVM), providing variance analysis and actionable insights.
  • Identify and manage project risks, opportunities, and cost/schedule risk models, ensuring timely mitigation and decision support.
  • Drive resource planning, productivity analysis, contractor performance monitoring, and construction management to improve project outcomes.
  • Support constructability reviews and establish project controls procedures, governance frameworks, and management reporting systems.
  • Prepare dashboards, reports, and presentations for project teams and leadership, ensuring alignment with project objectives, timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
Preferred candidate profile
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering is mandatory; PMP certification preferred. Candidates with a PG qualification from NICMAR in Construction/Project/Infrastructure Management will be highly preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in Project Controls, Planning & Scheduling, PMO, Cost Management, or Program Management within EPC, Consultancy, OEM, Owner, or Engineering organizations.
  • Strong experience in Metals, Mining, Smelters, Mineral Processing, Heavy Industrial, Power, Oil & Gas, or similar process industries.
  • Advanced proficiency in Primavera P6 (PPM/EPPM) with expertise in planning, scheduling, forecasting, baseline management, EVM, cost control, budgeting, cash flow forecasting, and project reporting.
  • Hands-on experience in PRISM or equivalent cost management tools, along with risk identification, schedule/cost risk analysis, and mitigation planning.
  • Proven experience in contractor management, construction monitoring, resource management, productivity improvement, and multidisciplinary project delivery.
  • Successfully led at least one large project from concept to commissioning and managed multiple projects/accounts simultaneously.
  • Strong analytical, stakeholder management, communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills with the ability to advise senior management and drive project success.
