Turner & Townsend are seeking an experienced Project Manager to join our Mumbai team, delivering end-to-end project management commissions within a cost centre. You will lead governance, planning and cross-functional teams, ensuring projects meet time, cost and quality targets for clients in India.

The role emphasizes strong English communication, stakeholder management and a proactive approach to identifying improvements and opportunities for future work with existing clients.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s in Civil engineering; 10–15 years post-qualification experience in a construction consultancy.
  • Post-graduate qualification in a relevant field is advantageous.
  • Excellent English verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Leading and managing end-to-end project management commissions.
  • Supporting on major commissions with focus on delivery quality and client objectives.
  • Establishing project governance, processes and systems for the project lifecycle.
  • Producing detailed project plans and advising on resource procurement.
  • Leading cross-functional project teams and monitoring performance and finances.
  • Managing change control and regular project reporting to the client and stakeholders.
  • Interfacing with the client and other consultants at all project stages.

Turner & Townsend are looking for a Project Manager to join our award‑winning cost centre in Mumbai, as part of our growing project management team.

Role within the project
  • To lead Project Management Commissions, taking responsibility for end‑to‑end service delivery.
  • To provide support on major Project Management Commissions, taking responsibility for an aspect of service delivery.
  • To ensure that client objectives are met and that projects are delivered to time and cost targets and the appropriate quality standards.
Scope

Projects typically range from Rs 5 crore to Rs 10 crore, with larger commissions in a supporting role. Project Managers handle commissions of varying sizes depending on project complexity.

Responsibilities
  • Helping to establish the overall success criteria for the project, including time, cost, technical and performance parameters.
  • Identifying and ensuring that the appropriate line manager is aware of quality, safety, health and environment issues.
  • Establishing effective project governance, processes and systems to be utilised throughout the project.
  • Project planning, including producing the detailed project plan.
  • Advising upon the procurement of resources.
  • Leading and facilitating the overall cross‑functional project team.
  • Monitoring and applying performance management techniques.
  • Managing the change control process.
  • Monitoring and advising upon project finances.
  • Managing the flow of project information between the team and the client, through regular meetings and written communications.
  • Preparing formal project progress and other reports.
  • Taking a leading role in interfacing with the client and other consultants at all project stages.
Marketing and business development
  • Identifying opportunities to develop new business with existing clients and reporting such opportunities to the appropriate line manager.
  • Assisting in the production of bid documentation.
  • Ensuring that project case study, photograph and project CV files are kept up to date.
  • Identifying ways in which project management products and services can be improved and referring ideas to the appropriate line manager.
  • Understanding the Turner & Townsend 2+2=5 philosophy and identifying cross‑divisional opportunities.
  • Internal management accountabilities, to include:
  • Knowledge management – ensuring that key information and learning generated from each project is input into the Turner & Townsend internal database.
  • Financial management – ensuring prompt client invoicing and utilising TIC Sheets in order to monitor a project’s financial status.
  • Process improvement – identifying ways in which internal systems and processes can be improved and referring ideas to the appropriate line manager.
Reporting
  • Depending on context, a Project Manager is likely to report to a Senior Project Manager or Associate Director.
Qualifications
  • Education: B.E/B.Tech/B.Arch – Civil.
  • Post‑graduate qualification in a relevant field is an added advantage.
  • Experience of working for a construction consultancy in India, and degree‑educated in a relevant construction subject with strong technical skills.
  • 10–15 years of post‑qualification experience in a similar role.
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
