Job Description
We're looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Project Manager - Mechanical / Electrical to join our team in Mumbai, India. In this role, you will oversee the planning, execution, and completion of mechanical and electrical projects within our data centre facilities. You will work collaboratively with cross‑functional teams, vendors, and stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
Responsibilities
- Plan, schedule, and coordinate mechanical and electrical projects from initiation through completion, ensuring alignment with organisational objectives and data centre operational requirements
- Develop comprehensive project scopes, timelines, budgets, and resource allocation plans; monitor progress and implement corrective actions as needed
- Manage vendor relationships and procurement processes for mechanical and electrical equipment, materials, and services; negotiate contracts and ensure compliance with specifications
- Conduct technical reviews of mechanical and electrical designs, drawings, and specifications to ensure compliance with data centre standards and best practices
- Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks; develop contingency plans and communicate potential issues to stakeholders proactively
- Coordinate with internal teams, contractors, and external partners to ensure seamless project execution and minimise operational disruptions
- Monitor project budgets, track expenses, and provide regular financial reporting to management; identify cost‑saving opportunities without compromising quality
- Maintain detailed project documentation, including progress reports, change orders, and lessons learned; ensure accurate record‑keeping for compliance and future reference
- Conduct regular site inspections and quality assurance checks to verify work meets technical specifications and safety standards
- Communicate project status, milestones, and deliverables to stakeholders through regular meetings and comprehensive reports
- Ensure all projects comply with relevant safety regulations, environmental standards, and data centre operational protocols
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of project management experience, with at least 3 years managing mechanical and/or electrical projects in data centre or similar infrastructure environments
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems (HVAC, cooling, power distribution) and electrical systems relevant to data centre operations
- Proficiency with project management tools and software, such as Microsoft Project, Smartsheet, or equivalent platforms
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple concurrent projects while maintaining attention to detail and organisational efficiency
- Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills with the ability to assess technical requirements and make informed decisions
- Strong vendor and stakeholder management capabilities with proven negotiation and communication skills
- Experience with budget management, cost control, and financial tracking
- Solid understanding of data centre infrastructure, operations, and industry standards (ANSI/TIA, ISO 14644)
- Knowledge of building management systems (BMS) and related technologies
- Familiarity with risk management methodologies and mitigation strategies
- Professional communication and presentation skills with the ability to interact effectively across all organisational levels
- Preferred: Data centre‑related certifications such as Certified Data Centre Professional (CDCP), Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), or equivalent
- Preferred: Experience with Agile project management methodologies
- Preferred: Background in mechanical or electrical engineering or related technical field
