WPP is hiring a Project Manager (AI Governance) to ensure AI innovation is matched by robust governance, risk management and auditable evidence across technology and business stakeholders.

The role focuses on embedding governance early, maintaining policies, and coordinating with risk, security, legal and compliance functions in a fast-moving AI environment. Hybrid work arrangements are available.

Qualifications

• Experience in governance, risk, compliance, controls, audit or operational assurance within a large multinational organisation.
• Strong understanding of governance principles and the importance of maintaining accurate records, evidence and audit trails.
• Experience working with technology, data, digital transformation or enterprise platforms in a governance-related capacity.
• Knowledge of technology risk, data handling controls and regulatory or policy-driven operating environments.
• Strong organisational skills with exceptional attention to detail and documentation discipline.
• Ability to assess issues objectively and make balanced recommendations.
• Confidence with senior stakeholders and governance oversight in fast-paced environments.
• Excellent written communication skills for clear policies and reports.
• Proactive and pragmatic approach balancing governance with delivery timelines.

Responsibilities

• Maintain the governance evidence base for Enterprise AI, ensuring decisions, approvals, controls and artefacts are documented and audit-ready.
• Support the implementation of responsible AI practices, including data handling, acceptable use, risk management and control requirements.
• Monitor and maintain the governance view of the Enterprise AI estate, ensuring new capabilities are registered and governed.
• Develop, maintain and communicate Enterprise AI policies, standards and governance frameworks.
• Collaborate with delivery and programme teams to embed governance early in delivery processes.
• Coordinate governance reviews, approvals and risk assessments with timely issue resolution.
• Support audit activities with documentation, evidence and process visibility.
• Track governance actions, risks and decisions across the Enterprise AI portfolio.
• Identify opportunities to strengthen governance processes as AI scales.
• Partner with Technology, Risk, Security, Legal and Compliance for consistent governance.

We’re looking for a Project Manager (AI Governance) to help ensure that AI innovation is matched by robust governance, responsible use and effective risk management.

As Enterprise AI adoption accelerates, governance becomes increasingly important. This role sits at the centre of that effort, helping establish the controls, processes and evidence that enable innovation to scale safely and responsibly. You’ll work closely with technology, delivery and business stakeholders to ensure governance requirements are embedded early, risks are understood and decisions are supported by a clear and auditable evidence trail.

We’re looking for someone who combines strong governance discipline with practical judgement, and who understands how to balance innovation, risk and business value in a fast-moving technology environment.

What you’ll be doing

• Maintain the governance evidence base for Enterprise AI, ensuring decisions, approvals, controls and supporting artefacts are documented, traceable and audit-ready.
• Support the implementation of responsible AI practices, including data handling, acceptable use, risk management and control requirements.
• Monitor and maintain the governance view of the Enterprise AI agent estate, helping ensure new capabilities are appropriately registered, reviewed and governed.
• Support the development, maintenance and communication of Enterprise AI policies, standards and governance frameworks.
• Work closely with delivery and programme teams to ensure governance requirements are considered early and embedded into delivery processes.
• Coordinate governance reviews, approvals and risk assessments, ensuring issues are identified and addressed in a timely manner.
• Support internal and external audit activities by providing documentation, evidence and process visibility where required.
• Track governance actions, risks and decisions, maintaining transparency across the Enterprise AI portfolio.
• Help identify opportunities to strengthen governance processes, controls and operating practices as AI adoption continues to scale.
• Partner with stakeholders across Technology, Risk, Security, Legal and Compliance functions to support a consistent and effective governance approach.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with AI governance frameworks, responsible AI principles or emerging technology risk management.
• Experience with ServiceNow or similar workflow, governance or controls platforms.
• Exposure to Microsoft Copilot, Microsoft 365 governance or digital transformation programmes.
• Previous experience within a global matrix organisation, ideally within technology, media, consulting or professional services.
