Role & responsibilities

- The Project Manager will own and drive end-to-end delivery of MPLS / P2P / Internet / SDAWN customer projects from PO receipt through project planning, execution, delivery within committed TAT, customer acceptance and handover for billing through structured planning, cross-functional coordination, proactive risk management, customer communication and data-driven project tracking. The role requires strong coordination with Sales, CSM, Order Logging, Feasibility, BSG, NOC, Onnet Delivery, Offnet Delivery, Vendors and Customers to ensure that projects are delivered within committed TAT, agreed scope and customer expectations. The Project Manager will be responsible for proactively identifying dependencies, bottlenecks and risks, driving corrective actions and ensuring that no project remains unattended or delayed without an identified owner, action plan and committed resolution date.

Key Responsibilities / KRA
  • Own the project from PO receipt to successful delivery, customer acceptance and billing initiation.
  • Review the customer PO, order details, scope of work, service requirements, locations and commercial/technical deliverables.
  • Understand the complete solution and identify all activities required for successful delivery.
  • Ensure clear ownership is established for every project activity and dependency.
  • Act as the single point of contact for the customer during project implementation.
  • Ensure timely handover to the Service Assurance/Operations team after successful delivery and acceptance.
  • Prepare a detailed project plan immediately after order receipt/OAF.
  • Establish -Project milestones , Target dates, Dependencies, Activity owners, Customer dependencies, Vendor dependencies, Expected delivery date
  • Identify activities that can be completed in parallel or in advance to reduce overall delivery TAT.
  • Track Target TAT vs. Actual TAT for every critical milestone.
  • Proactively identify slippages and initiate corrective action before the committed delivery date is impacted.
  • Coordinate with technical and delivery teams to understand Feasibility , Last-mile requirements, Onnet/Offnet delivery, Bandwidth requirements, Ports/SFP/XC requirements, Customer-end equipment, Site readiness, Installation requirements, Testing and Acceptance requirements
  • Initiate customer onboarding immediately after order receipt. Send a formal Welcome/Onboarding communication covering relevant details
  • Introduce himself/herself to the customer through a call.
  • Understand customer expectations and required delivery timelines.
  • Provide regular and proactive project updates rather than waiting for the customer to ask for status.
  • Share expected delivery dates and changes in timelines with proper explanation.
  • Conduct periodic calls with customers for major/high-value projects.
  • Ensure customer concerns are captured and closed.
  • Maintain complete project information from PO/OAF to delivery and acceptance. Track every major milestone with - Target Date, Actual Date, TAT, Ageing Dependency, Delay reason, Responsible owner, Corrective action, Revised commitment date
  • Ensure projects are delivered within the committed TAT.
  • Highlight projects approaching TAT breach before the breach occurs.
  • Escalate delayed projects through the defined escalation mechanism.
  • Ensure every delayed project has a documented reason, action plan and next commitment date.
  • The PM is expected to identify problems before they become customer escalations. Key areas include - Site not ready, Customer access/permission, Rooftop/pole permission, Internal cabling permission, Building permission, Vendor dependency, Material/equipment availability, Port/resource availability, NOC/network dependency, Customer-side technical dependency
  • Coordinate with delivery teams to ensure installation is completed as per agreed scope.
  • Verify that the delivered service matches the customer PO/order requirements.
  • Ensure required testing is completed.
  • Ensure delivery/site photographs or required implementation evidence are captured wherever applicable.
  • Ensure deficiencies are identified and corrected before customer acceptance.
  • Coordinate with NOC/technical teams for resources, port, bandwidth, IP, VLAN etc.
  • Ensure customer receives the required service details and support contacts after delivery.
  • Drive customer acceptance immediately after successful delivery.
  • Target customer acceptance within 1 working day of delivery, wherever applicable.
  • Obtain clear written confirmation of satisfactory completion/acceptance.
  • Ensure there is no ambiguity or dispute regarding project completion before billing.
  • Escalate acceptance delays immediately with Reason, Customer dependency, Actions taken, Revised acceptance date
  • The candidate must have good working knowledge of MS Excel and should be capable of independently maintaining project trackers. He/she should be able to maintain project master data, Track multiple projects and links simultaneously, Calculate ageing and TAT, Track Target vs. Actual delivery dates, Prepare pivot tables and management summaries. The candidate should be able to use formulas such as XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, COUNTIF/COUNTIFS, SUMIFS, IF, date calculations, etc. as required, apply conditional formatting to identify ageing and TAT breaches, Convert detailed project data into concise management reports, Prepare customer-wise, Sales Manager-wise, city-wise and service/category-wise reports, Maintain accurate daily project updates for MIS reporting.
  • The PM will be responsible for timely submission of Daily Project tracker update / Critical project status / Delays/bottlenecks / Customer dependencies / Projects requiring escalation, Weekly Customer project status updates, Major project review, Delivery plan vs. actual, TAT/ageing status, Risk and dependency report. upcoming delivery plan, Monthly Delivered vs. planned, Order-to-delivery conversion, TAT compliance, Ageing projects, Delayed projects and reasons, Customer dependency , Acceptance pending, Billing pending after delivery, Key highlights/lowlights
Technical & Functional Competencies
  • Understanding of ISP/Telecom network and enterprise connectivity.
  • Understanding of ILL, MPLS, EBB, P2P and Last Mile concepts.
  • Good project planning and execution capability.
  • Strong coordination and follow-up skills.
  • Good command of MS Excel.
