Job summary

ABB invites an experienced engineer to design and modify standard equipment and installations for the Process Automation OPCs in Chennai, India. You will produce 3D drawings using Revit, BIM 360 and ACC, while collaborating with global teams to ensure conformance to contract specs and quality standards.

You should have a 5–7 year background in civil/mechanical/industrial/electrical engineering, strong English communication, and hands-on experience with Autodesk tools and related software suites.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil, Mechanical, Industrial or Electrical Engineering or equivalent with 5–7 years in similar roles.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency in English, written and spoken; other languages a plus.

This Position reports to:
Operations Manager

Your role and responsibilities:

The Engineer will be responsible for creating and modifies the standard designs of equipment, systems, or installations, including standard specifications for manufacturing, fabrication, or construction, for assignments classified as low to medium complexity, using standard design concepts. Providing 3D drawings using 3D software like Revit, BIM 360 and Autodesk construction cloud (ACC) for the business unit in India working closely with the Global teams. The role requires strong understanding of 3D drawing requirements, high resilience, and the ability to learn quickly in a dynamic environment.

The work model for the role is:
This role is contributing to the Process Automation business for Operation Centers and Quality division based in Chennai, India.

You will be mainly accountable for:

• Designs engineering solutions, including drawings and calculations according to contractual specification.
• Creates engineering drawings, specifications and plans required by manufacturing, fabrication, or construction.
• Contributes to design reviews and design verification, modifies design, as necessary.
• Create design in 3D/2D platforms and special design software as required and depending on the needs.
• Verification of vendors drawings and interphase arrangement with the civil
• mechanical drawings in 2D and 3D.
• Drawing arrangement in Autodesk platforms.
• Maintain projects within Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC), including folder structures, access permissions, and design team packages.

Qualifications for the role:

• Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electro-Mechanic Engineering or Expert Drawing Specialist with 5– 7 years of experience in similar roles.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.

• Knowing and use of several Design Software’s (Autodesk REVIT, BIM, ACC , Autodesk AutoCAD, Autodesk AutoCAD Electric, SketchUp Studio, EPLAN Electric P8, EPLAN Harness proD, Microsoft Office tools, Autodesk ROBOT, DIALUX, SOLIDWORKS, Autodesk Inventor Pro, etc.)
• Excellent communicator to interact within the organization.
• Specialist Designing Skills
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills. Proficiency in Technical English, written and spoken; additional languages are a plus.
