Azad Foundation in Chennai invites applications for Programme Implementer- Community Engagement. You will mobilize women from resource-poor families for the Women with Wheels program, organize outreach, engage with grassroots NGOs, and maintain a detailed mobilization database.

Travel within the city is expected; teamwork and documentation are essential. Ideal candidates have 2–5 years' experience, a degree in social work or related fields, and strong English and Tamil communication skills.

About Azad Foundation

Azad is a professional feminist organization working across social and religious divides to enable resource-poor women to empower themselves by engaging them in viable non-traditional livelihood options. Azad is committed to breaking patriarchal boundaries and structures so that women can exercise control over their lives and live with dignity. This is done through transformative capacity-building programs based on adult learning principles around the self and the skills needed for non-traditional livelihoods. Azad also engages with both men and women in their communities to create a safe and supportive space for development. The organization operates directly in Jaipur, Delhi, Chennai, and Kolkata and partners with other organizations in Indore, Bhubaneshwar, Ahmedabad, and Lucknow.

Role Description - Key Responsibilities

Job Summary: Program Implementer- Community Engagement, Azad Foundation, Chennai will be responsible for mobilizing interested and eligible women from resource poor families for Women with Wheels program as per the criteria. The PI will also network with grassroots NGOs/development agencies to motivate women from their work areas. She will plan and execute outreach and mobilization activities in different parts of the city, identify local mobilisers and community resource persons. She will be responsible for related documentation and shall maintain the database.

Key Responsibilities

• Identify potential resource poor areas from which women can be enrolled
• Recruit mobilizers from those areas
• Orient mobilizers on Azad Foundation s Vision, Mission and Values
• Orient mobilizers on gender, feminism, economic empowerment, livelihoods, etc.
• Build mobilization team, give guidance and support to the team members.
• Design and implement different Outreach and Mobilization activities like identification of eligible women through survey, organizing camps in areas, holding Focused Groups Discussions (FGDs) with women, men and opinion leaders, mike announcements and other mass communication strategies to reach out to eligible young women, families and communities.
• Ensure regular follow-ups and home visits to the families of interested and eligible women to motivate them for the program. Ensure that regular home visits to the families of trainees are conducted by community mobilizers.
• Make regular field visits to network in community with opinion leaders and other supporting agencies.
• Liaise with development NGOs and actively participate in different campaigns that helps build equality and generate public voice against violence in the society, campaigns such as 16 days of activism against violence on women, OBR, save girl child.
• Responsible for upkeeping of detailed database, related to mobilization activities Compile and present information in the meetings.
• Monitor team performance regularly and provide feedback.
• Coordinate with PI Training Placement to monitor the progress made by trainees.
• Prepare monthly plans and reports.

Professional Educational Qualifications

1. Educational Qualifications: Graduate/Post Graduate degree social work/sociology/gender studies/political science/Development studies
2. Computer Skills: Skilled in handling computer especially the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
3. Language Proficiency: Proficiency in English Tamil - reading, writing and speaking. Knowledge of Hindi is an advantage.

Work Conditions

Travel: Expected to travel to different areas within the city for mobilization processes.
