Job summary

Webasto Roofsystems India in Chennai is seeking an experienced Purchasing professional to lead the sourcing for standard development projects, define acquisition BOM and cost estimates, and collaborate with R&D, Engineering, Design and Production to understand material requirements.

The role drives RFIs/RFQs, supplier cost monitoring, selection, and procurement strategies for new product development, focusing on cost optimization, VAVE, localization, and risk management to meet project timelines

• Owns purchasing for standard development projects and supports global/platform projects.
• Defines acquisition BOM and cost estimation for acquisition projects.
• RFI/RFQ process, feasibility confirmation, supplier cost monitor, parts and PPAP timing.
• Responsible for sourcing, supplier selection, and procurement strategies for new product development.
• Collaborates with cross-functional teams to ensure cost-effective, high-quality, and timely procurement of materials and components for new products.
• Ensure timely sourcing and procurement of parts to align with project timelines.
• Drives supplier innovation, cost optimization, and risk management in NPD projects.
• Strong communication skills and able to manage projects with own responsibility

This job is the responsible Purchasing function for standard development projects or acts as team member in global or platform projects. Additionally, it handles the assigned projects from Purchasing perspective to reach target costs (BOM/Tooling/total BC) and target dates (PPAP).

Job Summary:

• Defining acquisition BOM and cost estimation for acquisition projects
• RFI/RFQ process, feasibility confirmation, supplier cost monitor, parts and PPAP timing
• Responsible for sourcing, supplier selection, and procurement strategies for new product development.
• Collaborates with cross-functional teams to ensure cost-effective, high-quality, and timely procurement of materials and components for new products.
• Ensure timely sourcing and procurement of parts to align with project timelines.
• Drives supplier innovation, cost optimization, and risk management in NPD projects.

• Work closely with R&D, Engineering, Design, and Production teams to understand material and component requirements for new products.
• Strong negotiation, Source decision matrix, sourcing committee, Conducts contract negotiation.
• Reviews consistently, support quality and Competitiveness of suppliers and develops corrective actions.
• Sound technical knowledge of common manufacturing processes.
• Commodity experience Sheet metal, plastic, rubber, Aluminium extrusion, Glass, Fabric, Electronic/Electrical components.
• Stay updated with market trends, material innovations, and technology advancements to enhance sourcing strategies.
• Collaborate with finance and procurement teams to manage budgets, forecasts, and cost tracking for new product launches.
• Focused on VAVE, LTA, Quick savings and localization of parts.
• Manage and mitigate risks related to supply chain disruptions in Program Purchase.
• Strong communication skills and able to manage projects with own responsibility
