Job summary

HARTING Manufacturing India, Thirumizhasai, Chennai, is seeking a Program Manager for Aerospace & Defense within the R&D Product Development department. You will drive NPD projects from kick-off to production, coordinating with Marketing, Sales, R&D, Supply Chain, and Manufacturing to meet milestones.

The role requires 6–10 years in relevant NPD, including 3+ years in aerospace project management; BE/B.Tech and PMP are valued, with strong English and leadership skills.

Qualifications

• BE/B.Tech with Mechanical, Electrical, or Mechatronics background; PMP is a plus.
• 7–10 years in New Product Development, with at least 3 years in aerospace project management.
• Experience with CCPM project management methods.
• Strong communication skills and good command of English.

Responsibilities

• Project management from kick-off to series production in NPD.
• Coordinate across Marketing & Sales, R&D, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, and Production.
• Set project objectives and develop the Project Plan and AFI releases.
• Monitor deadlines, costs, and services with rolling planning and reviews.
• Prepare reports and communicate status to stakeholders and management.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to advance parallel projects.
• Contribute to KPI reporting for the location to the global forum.

Qualifications

• Education BE /B.Tech Mechanical, Electrical engineering, or comparable education, PMP certified candidate is a plus


• Work Experience 6 to 10 years of experience in core New Product Development field of which minimum of 3 years of handling Aerospace projects experience in project Management.

Roles And Responsibilities

• Project Management in NPD area starts from project kick-off to series production


• Management of projects based on the defined project goals, the specifications of the Project Management Office, the milestone system at HARTING and the currently valid rules and procedures for project management


• Definition of the project objectives, i.e. Completion of a target agreement with client and team and preparation of the project order / Project Plan


• Organization, coordination and control of the overall project process with the involvement of the respective specialist departments such as Marketing & Sales, R&D, Supply chain, Manufacturing, Production etc.


• Responsibility for goals, deadlines, costs and services, i.e. rolling planning according to the level of detail, continuous coordination and tracking as well as release via project order / AFI


• Reporting / escalation, implementation of project reviews


• Execution of project documentation (project review for milestone completion, status display in the project management tool, project completion report)


• Command and apply various project management methods


• Communication / exchange with the project management office for continuous development of the project management system


• Working together with the other project managers in coordination and professional management of parallel running projects


• Managing the KPI’s for the location and presenting to the global forum.


• Participation in customer and project audits


• To cooperate with internal and external team members actively.


• To ensure the action taken at specified time interval


• To monitor the project follow ups as per the planner


• To ensure a report of project management had been shared to the department manager on daily basis


• Ensure a smooth production with a focus on the customer needs.


• Join the daily / weekly shop-floor-meetings and provide the NPD relevant information


• Support to Production Team Members in case of problems.


• Functional relation with other HARTING departments


• Cross Functional Team especially, Production, Engineering, Quality, SCM and IE.


• On request by the superior manager, the employee besides his actual functions, can be involved to do other tasks which do not correspond to his routine activities sphere.

Required Experience

• BE /B.Tech with specialization in Mechanical, Electrical engineering, Mechatronics or comparable education, PMP certified candidate is a plus


• Led product development activities working with hardware engineering and cross functional teams


• 7 to 10 years of experience in New Product Development field


• Of which minimum of 5 years of Professional experience in project management


• Experience in the range of Critical Chain Project Management (CCPM)
