Job summary

HARTING Technology Group in Chennai, India, is seeking a Design Engineer VAVE with 5–8 years in value engineering for electro‑mechanical products. You will lead VE projects, drive cost-saving initiatives, and work with global teams on design optimization.

The role requires hands-on experience with NX and Teamcenter, and a solid background in plastics, rubber, and metal component design, along with GD&T proficiency.

Qualifications

Bachelor's or Master's degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
5–8 years of experience in value engineering and electro-mechanical component engineering.
Fluent in English and able to collaborate with global teams.

Responsibilities

Lead VE projects and drive VAVE initiatives.
Complete at least 3 major VE savings projects.
Hands-on design using Siemens NX and Teamcenter.
Develop and qualify NPI/NPD for electro‑mechanical products.
Advise on diecasting, plastics, sheet metal design.
Ensure designs meet industry standards and GD&T practices.
Collaborate with global teams and communicate technically.

Position Title : Design Engineer VAVE

Department : R&D Product Development

Location : HARTING Manufacturing India, Thirumizhasai, Chennai

Roles And Responsibilities

Education : Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.

Work Experience : 5 to 8 years of experience in Value Engineering, Component engineering of electro mechanical products.

Core Responsibilities

Expertise on VAVE concept and have good experience in handling VE projects.
Must have completed minimum 3 major VE savings projects.
Hands on working knowledge of Siemens NX 3D CAD software & Team Centre.
Hands on experience in New Product Design & Development (NPI/NPD) of electro-mechanical products.
Good knowledge in diecasting, plastics & sheet metal component design & development.
Good Knowledge on the Seal designs, IP ratings and rubber seal materials.
Good knowledge on material selection for the parts based on application.
Must have experience in working with Global teams and communicating with them technically.
Good knowledge on GD&T, tolerance stack-up analysis, dimensions, and structural analysis.
Knowledge on the Engineering Change Notification process for design changes.
Ensure design of components and assemblies adhere to applicable industry and business standards.
Establish and support knowledge-sharing networks throughout the HARTING Technology Group to promote collaboration and innovation.
Work closely with cross functional teams to drive VAVE initiatives.

General Skills

Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, , or a related field
Extensive knowledge of VAVE.
Proficient in project management, capable of planning and executing projects related to the development of plastics and rubber materials.
Strong communication skills, high self-motivation, and the ability to organize independently.
A passion for innovation and a strong drive for finding new solutions, combined with a global mindset.
Willingness to undertake occasional business trips lasting several days.
A solid awareness of cost considerations.
