Role purpose
The PPC Head owns the plant's plan-to-dispatch cycle for NVH products, so that every OEM and Tier-1 schedule ships on time and in full at optimum inventory. The role turns customer schedules into executable production, material and capacity plans. It leads the PPC team and works as the link between Sales, Production, Purchase, Stores, Quality and Logistics.
Key responsibilities
Production planning & scheduling
- Translate OEM / Tier-1 customer schedules and forecasts into monthly, weekly and daily production plans.
- Run S&OP inputs and the Master Production Schedule (MPS); balance demand against plant capacity.
- Plan and sequence production across NVH processes: rubber mixing, moulding (compression/injection/transfer), bonding, metal preparation, finishing and assembly.
- Manage schedule changes, urgent orders and line-loading to protect customer deliveries.
Material planning & control
- Drive MRP for raw materials (rubber compounds, chemicals, metal inserts, bought-out parts) and packaging.
- Coordinate with Purchase and suppliers to secure timely material availability and resolve shortages.
- Plan and control subcontracting and job-work movement.
Capacity & resource planning
- Assess machine, mould/tool and manpower capacity; flag bottlenecks and plan for new parts and volume ramp-ups.
- Coordinate with Maintenance and Tool Room on mould availability and preventive maintenance windows.
- Support new product introductions (NPD/PPAP) with planning for trial and SOP volumes.
Inventory management
- Set and maintain inventory norms for RM, WIP and FG; drive reduction of excess, slow-moving and non-moving stock.
- Ensure FIFO, shelf-life control for rubber compounds, and accuracy of physical vs. system stock.
- Lead periodic stock audits and reconcile variances.
Dispatch & customer coordination
- Ensure on-time, in-full dispatch against customer schedules, including JIT / kanban supplies where applicable.
- Act as the plant's single point of contact for customer supply-chain and logistics teams; manage customer portals and ASNs.
- Prevent premium freight and line-stoppage risk at the customer.
Systems, MIS & improvement
- Own PPC processes in ERP (SAP or equivalent) and ensure master-data accuracy (BOMs, routings, lead times).
- Publish daily/weekly MIS: plan vs. actual, OTIF, inventory days, shortages and capacity utilisation.
- Drive lean practices (SMED, kanban, pull planning) and support IATF 16949 requirements for PPC.
Team leadership
- Lead, develop and evaluate the PPC, stores and dispatch team.
- Build planning discipline and cross-functional review rhythms with Production, Quality and Sales.
Candidate profile
Qualification: B.E./B.Tech or Diploma in Mechanical / Production / Rubber Technology; MBA in Operations or Supply Chain preferred.
Experience: 1418 years in PPC within automotive component manufacturing, with at least 45 years leading a PPC function. Hands‑on exposure to NVH, rubber‑to‑metal bonded or moulded rubber products is strongly preferred.
