Job summary

Hitachi, Ltd. is seeking a Production Engineer to optimize manufacturing processes, ensure high-quality output, and drive continuous improvement across facilities in India.

You will design, implement, and maintain production systems, analyze data to boost productivity, and collaborate with R&D, design, and QA teams to ensure smooth transitions from design to production. You will develop documentation, select equipment, oversee installation and calibration, and lead Lean/Six Sigma initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering.
  • 3+ years of experience in a production or manufacturing engineering role.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing principles, including Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks) and other engineering tools.
  • Experience with process optimization, root cause analysis, and problem-solving techniques.
  • Knowledge of automation technologies, robotics, and advanced manufacturing systems is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and implement efficient and cost-effective manufacturing processes and production lines for new and existing products.
  • Analyze production data, identify bottlenecks, and develop solutions to improve productivity, reduce waste, and enhance overall operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate with R&D, design, and quality assurance teams to ensure manufacturability of new products and seamless transition from design to production.
  • Develop and maintain detailed manufacturing documentation, including work instructions, process flow diagrams, and SOPs.
  • Evaluate and select appropriate manufacturing equipment and tools, and oversee their installation, calibration, and maintenance.
  • Implement and monitor quality control measures to ensure products meet required specifications and standards.
  • Lead and participate in continuous improvement initiatives (e.g., Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma) to optimize production processes and reduce operating costs.
  • Troubleshoot production issues and provide technical support to production line operators and technicians.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations, environmental standards, and company policies within the manufacturing environment.
  • Train and mentor production staff on new processes, equipment, and quality standards.
  • Responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

Your background

  • Experience with process optimization, root cause analysis, and problem-solving techniques.

  • Knowledge of automation technologies, robotics, and advanced manufacturing systems is a plus.

  • Excellent analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

  • Familiarity with quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001) and industry-specific standards.

  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and specifications.
