Job summary

The opportunity

As a Production Engineer at Hitachi, Ltd., you will play a crucial role in optimizing our manufacturing processes, ensuring efficient production, high-quality output, and continuous improvement across our facilities. You will be instrumental in the design, implementation, and maintenance of production systems to meet our operational goals.

How you'll make an impact
  • Design, develop, and implement efficient and cost-effective manufacturing processes and production lines for new and existing products.
  • Analyze production data, identify bottlenecks, and develop solutions to improve productivity, reduce waste, and enhance overall operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate with R&D, design, and quality assurance teams to ensure manufacturability of new products and seamless transition from design to production.
  • Develop and maintain detailed manufacturing documentation, including work instructions, process flow diagrams, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Evaluate and select appropriate manufacturing equipment and tools, and oversee their installation, calibration, and maintenance.
  • Implement and monitor quality control measures to ensure products meet required specifications and standards.
  • Lead and participate in continuous improvement initiatives (e.g., Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma) to optimize production processes and reduce operational costs.
  • Troubleshoot production issues and provide technical support to production line operators and technicians.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations, environmental standards, and company policies within the manufacturing environment.
  • Train and mentor production staff on new processes, equipment, and quality standards.
  • Responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

Your background
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering
  • 3+ years of experience in a production or manufacturing engineering role, preferably within a large-scale manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing principles, including Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks) and other engineering tools.
  • Experience with process optimization, root cause analysis, and problem-solving techniques.
  • Knowledge of automation technologies, robotics, and advanced manufacturing systems is a plus.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Familiarity with quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001) and industry-specific standards.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and specifications.
