Job summary

Lmw Atc in Ganapathy, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, India, is seeking a staff-level role focused on tool design and tooling for composite parts. You will support design release efficiency, ensure first-time quality, and drive cost-reduction initiatives within the Design and Engineering (DIC) department.

You will work on design tooling, procurement coordination, ERP activities, FAI validation, and process control to ensure on-time delivery and adherence to customer requirements.

Qualifications

• Experience in tool design for composites.
• Ability to validate tooling using simulation tools like Hypermesh, Nastran and Patran.
• Knowledge of coordinating metallic parts realization in-house and outsourcing.

Responsibilities

• a) Studying the PO, drawing and other technical inputs.
• b) Liaise with the planning & marketing for the technical requirements & queries.
• c) Estimation of raw materials for composite part and tooling.
• d) Design of composite tooling (Moulds, Jigs & Fixtures) and validation of tooling.
• e) Component verification through Analysis using Hypermesh, Nastran and Patran.
• f) Proving out the prototype as required.
• g) Creation of balloon drawings for quality clearance.

Purpose of the Role

• Support the DIC by accomplishing efficient On time Delivery of design release , First time right, and Continual Improvement on skill in Tool Design for Composite parts.
• Support the DIC by accomplishing efficient On time Delivery of design release , First time right, and Continual Improvement on skill in Design and Analysis
• Support the DIC In manging the budget for Engineering department and ensuring that resources are used efficiently
• Suggest innovative ideas to reduce cost and improve productivity and efficiency
• Control the rejections so as to save costs and produce outputs that are as per specified quality standards and as per customer requirements
• Enable customer satisfaction by driving efficiency in internal processes within the department
• Ensure appropriate, suitable actions towards customer complaints, so as to facilitate both customer retention as well as identify methods that helps in preventing such breakdowns from recurring

Responsibilities

2. Design of Tooling's

• a) Design of composite tool design. (Moulds , Jigs & Fixtures ) / Design Validation of Tooling's ( Composite & Metallics )
• b) Component verification through Analysis using Hypermesh, Nastran and Patran,
• c) Co- ordinating for Metallic parts realisation both In-House and outsourcing.
• d) Proving out the prototype as and when required.
• e) Creation of balloon drawings for quality clearance.
• f) Drafting & conversion of 2D to 3D

3. Configuration management Control

• a) Internal Release control ( Distribution, Access & Retrieval, Storage & Preservation, Control of changes, Retention & Disposition )

4. Procurement activities

• a) Raising the PR for RM, BOI (Bought Out Items),Special tools etc.. for tooling activities.
• b) Liaise with the SCM team to provide technical data for RM, BOI & Special tools to suppliers.

5. Documents Control

• c) Statistical Process Control (SPC) in Tool Design
• e) Plybook generation & Review.

6. ERP activities

• a) Generating Routing & BOM
• b) Liaise with planning for work order releasing.

7. FAI Validate

• a) Generating Routing & BOM - Tooling
• b) Releasing tool & supporting drawings to Manufacturing & Quality.
• c) Providing the technical information for outsourcing process.
• d) Customer approval on tool design.

8. Process control

• c)Provision of supporting drawing for process documents
• d) Liaise with the manufacturing team for Delta FAI activities

Additional Responsibilities

• Ensure adherence to Business Excellence processes in all activities related to the department, through training, practicing, audits and corrective actions
• Plan and promote continuous improvements in material, machine utilization and process to improve section & individual productivity, and quality of the product
• Coordinate with the automation team to identify use cases and drive automation / process improvement initiatives within the Section
• Ensure updation and use of the latest technologies and tools for all activities within section
• Co-ordinating with OSP for tool realization.
