Job summary

Schindler India Pvt Ltd in Chennai, Tamil Nadu invites an Engineer - Product Safety to ensure safe installation and operation of elevators and escalators, performing inspections and testing to verify compliance with codes and safety devices.

The ideal candidate has a Diploma in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical or Electronics) with 5+ years in installation or 7+ in maintenance, plus safety systems knowledge and strong communication skills. Entry level in a global safety-focused team.

Qualifications

• Experience in E&E with at least five years in Installation or seven years in maintenance.
• Knowledge of elevator and escalator products and safety systems.
• Diploma in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical and Electronics) is required.

Responsibilities

• Make acceptance inspections and tests to determine whether all parts of the installation conform to the requirements of the applicable code and regulations and whether safety devices function.
• Make routine or periodic inspections and tests of existing installations to ensure operating condition and conformity to codes.
• Report inspection and testing results following applicable procedures.
• Follow up for closure of non-conformances observed during inspections.
• Coordinate with Project Engineers & Field Technicians for corrective actions and field instructions.

Key responsibilities include:

• Make acceptance inspections and conduct tests to determine whether all parts of the installation conform to the requirements of the applicable code and regulations of Schindler and whether the required safety devices function as required therein.
• Make routine or periodic inspections and conducting tests of existing installations to determine that the equipment is in apparent safe operating condition, has not been altered except in conformity to the applicable code or regulations, and performs in accordance with test requirements.
• Report the results of the inspection and testing in accordance with the appropriate procedures.
• Follow up for the completion of the non-conformance observed during the inspection for closure.
• Coordinate with Project Engineers & Field Technicians for completion of corrective actions and field instructions.
