Job summary

Trane Technologies in Bengaluru is seeking an experienced HVAC engineer to drive new product development, value engineering and new technology projects for residential refrigeration systems. You will collaborate with engineering, quality, manufacturing and suppliers to ensure on‑time delivery and project success.

The role requires 2+ years in HVAC design and development, strong thermodynamics knowledge and basic Python programming. On-site at Bengaluru with opportunities for growth and impact.

Qualifications

• B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical engineering is required.
• Hands-on HVAC design and development experience is essential.
• Strong thermodynamics knowledge and calculations.
• Experience with Python is required.
• Familiarity with DFMEA, DVPR, FRACAS and A3 is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead NPD, VAVE and NTP for Residential refrigerant subsystems.
• Collaborate with global project teams across functions.
• Meet Q, D, C and project cost targets throughout projects.
• Develop and select HVAC components and systems.
• Create engineering documentation using PLM/PDM tools.

What will you do

• Execute New Product Development (NPD), Value Analysis & Value Engineering (VAVE), and New Technology Projects (NTP) for Residential platform, with a focus on Refrigeration subsystems.
• Collaborate with global project owners, leaders, and cross‑functional teams—including Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, and Suppliers—to ensure exceptional project execution adhering to company processes, and project management principles.
• Ensure achievement of project milestones/deliverables within committed Quality (Q), Delivery (D), Product cost (C), and Project cost (C) targets.
• Execute concept development, design calculations and selection of HVAC components and system integration aligned to market needs, regulatory standards (DOE, AHRI, ASHRAE, UL, AMCA), and sustainability goals.
• Drive creation and release of engineering documentation using PLM/PDM tools including designs, drawings, bill of materials, and specifications.
• Perform DFMEA, execute test plans, failure mode analysis, and engineering builds/testing.

What you will bring

• B.E. / B. Tech Mechanical / M. Tech in Thermal Sciences/related specialization.
• 2+ years hands‑on experience in HVAC product/system design and development in New Product Development (NPD), Value Analysis & Value Engineering (VAVE), and New Technology Projects (NTP) & Quality & Reliability projects
• Core knowledge of Thermodynamic principles
• Demonstrate ability to perform advanced technical calculations, develop and apply engineering equations, and solve complex problems using a deep understanding of thermal and heat‑transfer principles for end‑to‑end system design.
• Basic python programming knowledge is a must.
• Hands‑on experience of engineering tools like DFMEA, DVPR, FRACAS & A3, will be added advantage.
• Understand project requirements, collaborate with project owners, leaders & cross‑functional teams across the globe for the delivery of projects, by adhering to Product Development Process (Gate process) and Project Management principles.
• Execute concept development, design/select & develop components along with suppliers, develop component specifications for HVAC components.
• Co‑ordinate with cross functional team to implement design changes by leading discussions.
• Proven track record of innovative projects, Proof of Concept projects, patent grant and technical publications is added advantage.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills—able to present technical concepts and results clearly and concisely.
