Job summary

Trane Technologies in Bengaluru invites a thermal engineering expert to lead design and analysis of refrigeration and thermal systems. You will work with product teams on simulations, heat exchangers, flow valves, and cooling cycles, contributing to sustainability goals.

Applicants should have strong background in MATLAB, Dymola, CFD, and Python; knowledge of low-GWP refrigerants and heat transfer is essential. The role combines onsite work with flexible Fridays.

Qualifications

  • M.E./M.Tech or PhD in Thermal Engineering or equivalent.
  • B.E. with a thermal background from HVAC industry is acceptable.
  • Thesis or electives on refrigeration systems are desirable.
  • Certifications from ASME/TEMA are a plus.
  • Published journals in thermal science strengthen candidacy.

Responsibilities

  • Performs a variety of thermal analysis on refrigeration and airflow systems and components using simulation tools as well as empirical calculations.
  • Creates and evaluates thermal designs for heat exchangers, flow valves, compression systems, and airflow components.
  • Works on new heat exchanger designs for low GWP refrigerants and analyzes boiling/condensation heat transfer for two-phase fluids.
  • Performs cycle balancing calculations using empirical methods and simulations to optimize the system.
  • Applies heat exchanger design and analysis using LMTD/NTU in shell-and-tube and extended surfaces.
  • Gains knowledge in radiation heat transfer and mass transfer calculations like evaporative cooling.

Job Summary

This role is responsible for leading the design and analysis of thermodynamic and fluid mechanic systems like refrigeration cycles, heat exchangers, compression systems, flow valves and piping etc. Shall support the product development team on thermal systems & component analysis using transient simulation tools and empirical calculations. Lead and support the design calculations for PoC prototypes, innovation & sustainability projects. This role also will be responsible for developing the competencies in heat and mass transfer across Product development team.

Key Competencies

Strong analytic knowledge in thermal science and refrigeration systems and expertise on heat transfer and heat exchangers design. Should have experience in developing refrigeration system models, able to develop and analyze different refrigeration circuits, design components like evaporators, condensers, flow valves, piping circuits and system accessories. Experience in using the tools like MATLAB, Dymola, CFD and analytic tools using python / Tableau. Good knowledge on Low GWP and A2L refrigerants. Experience in submitting papers in leading technical journals in thermal science.

Responsibilities

Should be able to work on new heat exchanger designs for new low GWP refrigerants, understands and analyze the boiling and condensation heat transfer for two phase fluids and its characterization on different types of heat exchangers. Performs calculation on cycle balancing of components using empirical methods and simulation tools to optimize the system. Able to perform heat exchanger design and analysis using LMTD, NTU method in shell and tube as well as in extended surfaces. Have good knowledge on radiation heat transfer as well as mass transfer calculations like evaporative cooling and diffusion mass transfer.

Qualifications
  • M.E, / M.Tech or PhD – Thermal Engineering
  • Or B.E with Thermal Background experience from HVAC industry
  • Elective or Thesis on refrigeration systems desirable.
  • Certification from societies like ASME, TEMA
  • Certifications by refrigeration forums and societies of HVAC & R is desirable.
  • Published technical Journals on thermal science
